How do you handle trust and security

Love Home Swap is very secure because we go to great lengths to ensure that our swappers are in good hands, and that their money is safe, every step of the way.

We use a secure payment system and guests are asked to review the property and their host at the end of each stay. This provides a body of knowledge which can help future swappers make an informed decision about which homes to swap with.

Can I buy insurance?

It's always a good idea to talk to your home insurer before your trip to make sure you're covered while you swap and to give yourself a chance to take out any extra cover, should you need it.

Insurance is down to you, but we're always looking to help, which is why we introduced our Swap Protection Pack.

This pack offers you Accidental Damage Protection up to £5,000 and Trip Cancellation Assistance up to £2,500, along with some other nice perks for just $79 per trip (or your local currency equivalent). See the full details here.

What if I find damages?

If you, as a host, find damages to your home you should let us know within 24 hours of the end of the trip and Love Home Swap will mediate between the parties to resolve the issue.

As a guest, you have 24 hours from the time you arrive to report any pre-existing damage to the home beyond normal wear and tear.

In the unlikely event that agreement cannot be reached on the cause of the alleged damage, within 30 days of the end of the trip, 50% of the deposit will be returned to the guest and 50% to the host.

What’s a refundable Security Deposit?

This is an amount that the members agree to set aside, to cover the rare occasion that any damages occur during a stay. If there are no damages during the stay the amount is returned to the members.

How much deposit is required?

There is a minimum amount of £200* to use the security deposit service. We suggest £100 per night for the duration of your trip, but our team will be happy to offer advice that will suit your own circumstances.

Why can't I share my phone number or email address before I agree a trip?

We require all messages to be handled through the Love Home Swap site to maintain your privacy and protect you from scams, phishing attacks and fraudulent payments. This enables us to provide a good level of service and to ensure that all interactions adhere to our Terms of Use.

Once you agree a trip you will receive the your Swapper's details and they will receive yours: name, email address, phone number and postal address.

When will payments for damages be made?

Payments can only be made to the host upon presentation of receipts to Love Home Swap for replacements or repairs made within the 30 day period after reporting the damages.

When will the deposit be refunded?

If there are no claims against the deposit it will be returned within 14 days of the end of the stay.

Are there any costs involved?

Love Home Swap manages the process and holds the funds securely and there is a 10% deposit fee for this service.

Our Rental payments are held in ESCROW once they've been taken. We do not touch or release the funds until 48 hours after the Rental has begun to ensure that both parties are fully covered if any issues arise.
