About our home

WE LIVE IN THE QUIET COUNTRY TOWNSHIP OF CHINCHILLA WHICH IS APPROX. A 4 HR DRIVE FROM BRISBANE, THE CAPITAL CITY OF QUEENSLAND. BECAUSE OF THE WIDE OPEN SPACE IN AUSTRALIA, IT MAY SEEM A LONG DISTANCE TO SOME, BUT BELEIVE ME, IT IS WORTH IT!

HAD AN APPROX. POPULATION OF 3,500 BUT IN RECENT YEARS HAS ALMOST DOUBLED DUE TO A WIDE EPANSE OF MINING COAL AND GAS ACTIVITY IN THE AREA. IT HAS BOUGHT AN INFLUX OF DIFFERENT CULTURES TO THE TOWN AND THUS BRINGING NEW RESTAURANTS, SHOPS ETC.

CHINCHILLA IS FAMOUS FOR ITS "WATERMELON FESTIVAL" WHICH IS HELD EVERY SECOND YEAR AND BRINGS VISITORS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. ITS NOT TO BE MISSED (www.facebook.com/ChinchillaMelonFestival) . THERE IS ALSO MANY GRAIN CROPS, COTTON AND BEEF CATTLE.

THERE IS LOTS TO DO - 100 SEAT CINEMA, ART GALLERY, MUSEUM, INDOOR AND OUTDOOR POOL, GYMS, MANY SPORTING FACILITIES INCLUDING GOLF, TENNIS, FOOTBALL, SOCCER, WATER SKIING, HORSERIDING, ETC.

IT HAS BECOME A DREAM COME TRUE BUILIDNG OUR OWN HOME ON 2 ACRES OF LAND ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO. IT FEATURS WIDE VERANDAHS TO TAKE IN THE QUEENSLAND SUN AND ENTERTAIN FRIENDS. THE INTERIOR IS STYLED WITH AN OLD WORLD COLONIAL CHARACTER AND ANTIQUE FURNISHINGS AND COLLECTABLES SCATTERED THROUGH-OUT. THE HOME HAS FULL REVERSE CYCLE AIR CONDITIONING WITH SUMMER REACHING APPROX 35-40 DEGREES AND WINTER CAN COME DOWN TO 6-10 DEGREES. THE KITCHEN IS EXQUISITE WITH A CEASARSTONE TOPPED ISLAND BENCH, MASSIVE BUTLERS PANTRY AND STORAGE GALORE. THE LOUNGE IS COSY WITH A WALL MOUNTED 58CM TV SCREEN AND AN ADJOINING SITTING/READING/MUSIC ROOM. THE MAIN KINGSIZE BEDROOM HAS ITS OWN WIDE SCREEN TV, EN-SUITE AND WALK IN ROBE AND FEATURES DOORS OPENING ONTO THE FRONT VERANDAH TO HAVE BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING SUN. AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE HOME, THE REMAINING TWO DOUBLE BEDROOMS ARE SPACIOUS WITH THE MAIN BATHROOM INLCUDING A CLAW FOOT BATH AND TOILET/POWDER ROOM. THE BACK DECK HAS A RELAXING ENTERTAINING SUITE WHERE YOU CAN HAVE A BBQ AND STILL SEE THE CHILDREN PLAY ON THE LARGE EXPANSE OF LAWN.

IT IS ONLY 2 HRS TO OUR BIGGEST SHOPPING TOWN OF TOOWOOMBA (FAMOUS FOR THE "CARNIVAL OF FLOWERS") AND ONLY 4 1/2 HRS TO THE SUNSHINE COAST AND BEACH WHERE WE ALSO HAVE A HOLDIAY UNIT AVAILABLE ( www.alexbeachresort.com.au ). ON THE THIRD FLOOR WITH FABULOUS VIEWS WE ARE DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE BEACH WITH SHOPS DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH. YOU CAN HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, THE COUNTRY AND THE BEACH, IF YOU DO A SWAP WITH US.
