About our home

Sprawling two-level farm house with mezzanine bedroom, deck. Perched high above a creek, the house's eco-credentials are underscored by platypus and echidna, wallabies that have the run of the property. A glasshouse provides both instant fresh herbs and vegetables as well as passive heating and cooling.

The property is sustainable, with solar power feeding more to the grid than the household uses. Ample gravity fed tank water is a joy to shower in. The house has a huge thermal mass that ensures passive heating and cooling, aided by a fireplace and a 1930s vintage wood burning stove. It's an Australian country retreat with wildlife and adventure all around you.

In the hinterland of the famous Tweed Coast, the house is a retreat away from the world but only a short drive to Gold Coast airport, world famous surfing beaches, world heritage national parks. Two hours' drive south of Brisbane city, a little less than an hour from Byron Bay, Nimbin, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Ballina.

We are well served by local markets. The local produce is like nothing on earth. Boasting a huge, well equipped kitchen the house is a food lover's delight, with ample space to relax and play. Hammock and couch on the sprawling verandahs, a feasting hall that seats ten, the mezzanine guest bedroom and a sound system to rock your socks or lull you to sleep.

The downstairs verandah is being rebuilt so updated photos soon when it's finished.

Come and get away from it all.

ps: I have a 50 foot yacht, so if you visit I'm sure there'll be an opportunity to go sailing - chase whales or cruise the Great Barrier Reef - depends where the boat is at the time.
