“Our hosts were very friendly. Peter was very helpful and more than willing to provide information about the area which was very helpful. The property was lovely with a large back yard and a huge deck where we often had breakfast or dinner. We were 3 couples who each had their own air conditioned bedrooms and bathrooms. We were all very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Great hosts!”

About our home
Built in 2006 on a hill side to capture the freshness of tropical living we provide four bedrooms with three bathrooms. Open living and dining flow onto an outdoor covered timber deck where dining occurs most of the year. The master bedroom has wonderful light and air flowing into it and an outdoor private paved sexy herb terrace. The other bedrooms are generous in size and have natural light and have queen size beds. The fourth bed would be a day/night with additional mattress added. Three bedrooms are security screened. The house has air-conditioning throughout but it is seldom used and never needed in winter. There is no requirement for heating. The veranda looks onto a large tropical forested hill top with access to the top to join a delegated walking track towards the city to the Botanic Gardens. Views towards the Barron RIver Gorge are available from the back.

Located on the edge of an inner suburb only 13 minutes drive from the city, 50 minutes from Port Douglas (another international tourist mecca), 1 hour to Mossman Gorge a stunning river attraction run by the traditional owners and 1 hour 10 from Atherton on the elevated Atherton Tablelands where the climate is very different. We offer a 5 seat car which makes getting to anywhere absolutely convenient. There is also a bus service to the city and a convenience store and liquor store all within 7 minutes walk.. A large supermarket and shopping centre is 5 minutes drive. Crystal Cascades and other local freshwater swimming spots are about 10 minutes drive. The Skyrail tourist attraction is 10 minutes drive. Many tour operators operate out of Cairns if you seek guided tours.
Cairns is known internationally as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the great wonders of the planet, with many options for diving, snorkeling or sightseeing from commercial operators. Tropical North Queensland is also home to World Wilderness Rainforest where it sweeps down to fringe the reef. A google search will reveal unlimited options for ecotourism from the reef to outback camping.
We are grandparents so assorted kids equipment can be available including portable cot and pusher.
We would prefer a points swap. We intend to have the house available during the cooler months of May June July which is the peak tourist season. We will also try to accommodate requests for other dates.

“Peter has always been very prompt to answer to any questions and very easy to deal with regarding schedule changes. Their house is beautiful and wide, a peaceful nest in the forest. They lend a car with a child booster and a stroller, perfect for us. The house is 15' driving from center town, and close to the highway leading to north and south, very convenient to move around. We met Peter and Marcia at the lagoon with their grand kids, we had good times together, very friendly. Thanks Peter and Marcia, your generosity made our week in Cairns very easy going.”
