About our home
We have a recently built two beautiful, very modern and spacious three bedroom detached town houses in a quiet neighborhood near the center of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, one hour drive from Brisbane, the Queensland capital.
The accommodation consists of a spacious master bedroom on the ground floor with a queen size bed, an en-suite and walk-in wardrobe. There is also a small bathroom/powder room downstairs. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and the other with a double sofa bed, also a family bathroom.
The living and dining areas with large cool porcelain floor tiles, are very spacious. The kitchen has beautiful stone bench tops including a breakfast bar. The kitchen is equipped with quality appliances and has a walk-in pantry. Open the wide sliding doors in the lounge and you have access to a large Al-fresco dining area overlooking a pretty private courtyard, great for relaxation and firing up the bar-b-q. There is also a remote operated security gate. Our houses are kept very clean and that is how we would treat your property.
Air-conditioners (reverse cycle), 2 flat screen TV’s, CD player, Hi-Fi system, wireless internet, fridge, freezer, grill, oven, ceramic cook top, microwave oven, coffee maker, electric bar-b-q, washing machine and dryer. All linen and towels are included. No smoking. Car negotiable
Caloundra is located on the Sunshine Coast, a beautiful part of Queensland away from the hustle and bustle of big cities but with all the attractions and amenities desirable for a great holiday adventure, enjoying the best Australia has to offer. Sheltered wide sandy beaches, warm sunny days, hundreds of species of birds, natural beauty, international attractions, such as the renowned Steve ( CROCODILE) Irwin, Australia Zoo, as well as a very friendly community to enhance your visit.
Our home is 300 metres from a gorgeous beach patrolled daily by the Australian Life Savers. An extensive boardwalk along the sea front connects a series of beaches offering children’s playgrounds, coffee shops, al-fresco dining, picnic areas with free bar-b-q facilities that are enjoyed by families and people at all ages. Swimming can also be enjoyed at the local Olympic size pool or the beach- side salt water pool.
There are 3 major shopping areas within a short walk of our house and the Events Performing Arts Centre is only three minutes walk away. Every Sunday there is a street market in the town , plus there are many other markets on the Sunshine Coast, including the internationally known eclectic Eumundi Markets.
The Sunshine Coast is a haven for people who love the sun, long walks, swimming, board and body surfing , lots of fishing, both sea and lake, kayaking, learning to surf, sailing and bike riding. Excellent diving on a sunken WW11 war ship. The area has many sporting and surf clubs offering various activities ,free entertainment and affordable dining. There are numerous golf courses in the area, some of which have kangaroos as the local residents. Whale watching is also available during the migration season.
For a mountainous experience, explore the nearby lush hinterland and many historic townships such as Montville and Maleny both of which are situated high on an escarpment where they offer panoramic views of the coast. Here you have the opportunity to browse among natural treasures and enjoy the numerous artistic attractions including art galleries. As mentioned earlier, the famous Australia Zoo attracts people from all over the world. Close by there is Underwater World, the second largest aquarium in the Southern Hemisphere.
Less than an hours drive will take you to the Noosa area with its beautiful beaches, boutique shopping, excellent dining and a National Park (where Koalas are resident), one of many parks on the Sunshine Coast. Boats, including those equipped with a bar-b-q and fishing gear can be hired on both the Noosa and Maroochydore Rivers. Further to the North, about two hours drive, is the renowned, world heritage listed, Fraser Island, the largest natural sand island in the world. It is a great place to visit with it’s rain forests, magnificent old trees soaring above the canopy, great scenery and a chance to see a Dingo in its natural habitat. Also, further to the north is the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.
The city of Brisbane is only a one hour drive away and has many attractions including the history museum, numerous cinemas and theaters, river cruises, the Queensland Art Gallery, botanic gardens, the Koala Bear sanctuary, many restaurants and excellent shops abound. The world famous Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, is only a short drive from Brisbane.
There is a shuttle bus that takes you from either Brisbane airport or the nearby Sunshine Coast Airport right to our front door. The public bus system is also at our front door and will take you to the nearest train station or other places of interest.
We are retirees in our 70’s with 6 daughters and 13 grandchildren, with another on the way, and we love to travel. We built our town houses a year ago and would now like to offer one to people who want to come and experience our beautiful Sunshine Coast. John is a retired electrical engineer and Bea is a community planning consultant. We both love walking, meeting and joining in with local people, enjoying good food as well as exploring the culture and history of the areas we visit.
Apart from visiting Europe, we are also interested in a non simultaneous swap in Tasmania, sometime between the last weeks in December, through to February 2017.
