About our home

Our home is a 1950s open-plan brick home built on nearly 700m2 of land. It has three bedrooms with built-in wardrobes (actual bedding arrangements can be modified to suit your needs), one renovated bathroom with bath and overhead shower and a second toilet in the laundry. The house has been modernised throughout with original features in floors, windows and cornicing. We have a large backyard with a designated eating and BBQ area. We have great facilities to entertain children including a trampoline, swing set and sandpit. We also have a new 8 x 4 metre in-ground saltwater pool with waterfall feature. Our car (with children's car seats if required) can be offered as part of an exchange.

We live in the beachside town of Coolangatta which is located on the southern end of the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Situated very close to the New South Wales border, we live within a short walk to shops, restaurants, pubs and several beaches. The Gold Coast is a major tourist hub with many theme parks (including Sea World, Dreamworld, Movie World, Wet n Wild, Wildlife Sanctuary, Outback Spectacular), as well as the famous Surfers Paradise area. The Gold Coast hinterland is also close by which offers fabulous hiking trails through magnificent rainforest areas. From June onwards you can also join local whale watching day trips as they make their annual migration north. There is of course plenty of local fresh seafood and produce available in the area.

The Gold Coast Airport is only a short distance away which has both domestic (Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns etc) and international connections (NZ, Asia). The closest major city is Brisbane, which is located approximately one hour's drive north of Coolangatta. Brisbane has a major airport and seaport for cruise liners. The well known seaside town of Byron Bay is a 30 minute drive south, and Sydney is a short 1 hour flight away. If you are a fan of vintage cars or rock 'n' rolling, there is also a big festival held in our town in early June each year called Cooly Rocks On! Coolangatta is a great base to discover many areas in Australia. The temperature remains pleasant throughout the year, with the average daytime temperatures ranging from 20 to 25'C (68 to 77'F) from April to July.

We take great care of our property, and would also treat yours with the utmost respect. We would welcome the opportunity to establish a long term pattern of house swapping over the years to come with new friends!

More about us

  1. We're an Australian couple with two small boys
  2. We work as a PE Teacher and Clinical Psychologist and have travelled extensively over the past 15 years. After just returning from a 3 month overseas holiday, we are now looking at organising some domestic swaps ideally in the school holidays.
  3. We have completed two successful home exchanges to date; one in Australia and one in the UK. We loved both experiences and are keen to have more!
