About our home

You will be walking on air staying at our eco-friendly holiday home on Tamborine Mountain. There are panoramic views both day and night with over 90 square metres of decks and verandahs to bring the outside in. You can use the telescope to explore the ocean horizon from Jumpinpin to Surfers Paradise, or survey the tree clad ridges and deep green valleys of Wongawallan.

THE LOCATION

"Cloud 9" is a scenic, 35 minute drive from the classic beaches of the Gold Coast, 1 hour from metropolitan Brisbane and a world away from anywhere.

Tamborine Mountain is actually a plateau 8 kms long, 5 kms wide and around 550 metres above sea level. It is lofted above the hinterland between the Pacific Ocean and the Great Dividing Range. The mountain is an island in the sky, surrounded by subtropical rainforest, home to some 7000 people and a sanctuary for the native flora and fauna.

Birdwatchers especially appreciate the variety of some very rare species. Lyrebirds, parrots, cockatoos and lorikeets, tawny frog mouth, whip birds and inquisitive bowerbirds populate the rainforests. Elusive platypuses live in the clear mountain creeks and at night the glow worms glow in the forest caves.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

“Cloud 9” is located on the north-east edge of the Eagle Heights escarpment, in an end of court position overlooking a wilderness preserve. You can watch the sun and full moon rise romantically over the Pacific Ocean and wake to the morning chorus of the songbirds. Walk to the Botanic Gardens or drive 2 km to the restaurants, cafes, shops and wineries of Gallery Walk. Stroll through the rainforest of MacDonald National Park and visit the heritage museum. Or adventure further afield to Cedar Creek Falls, Skywalk and Thunderbird Park.

The embracing beauty of the mountain has attracted many writers, poets, artists, artisans and visitors. Original gifts and mementos can be purchased at the numerous galleries and antiques shops across the mountain. There is a local producers market every Sunday from 8.00 am at the Showgrounds plus the main markets every second Sunday of the month and every last Sunday of the month.

THE HOUSE & GARDENS

Our holiday home sleeps from 6-8 including a master bedroom with ensuite and separate dressing room, a pleasant second bedroom with pillow-top queen bed, plus a large and private third bedroom on the ground level with two king single beds. There is a comfy double sofa bed in the media room for extra guests. All upstairs bedrooms and living rooms enjoy those uninterrupted hinterland to ocean views, with walls of glass opening to the eastern verandah.

“Cloud 9” is furnished throughout with quality appointments. You can watch a DVD on the flat screen TVs or play your iPod or our CDs on the sound system. Chat with family and friends on the plush leather couches, recline in the 20 jet spa bath or choose your zone to relax on the viewing deck. There are two ample bathrooms at each end of the house and undercover parking for three cars.

You will also appreciate an enchanting mountain garden with a grand eucalypt at the entrance, meandering pathways, roses and rainforest, fruit trees and a herb patch. There is indoor dining for 8 and outdoor dining for 10 or more with a well supplied kitchen and undercover gas BBQ just made for entertaining.

RELAX & ENJOY

“Cloud 9” is ideal for all seasons as there are no extremes in temperature on the mountain. You will be captivated by the spring mists as they rise through the valley below and delight in the changing colours of the local gardens in autumn. You can escape the heat of the coast and enjoy the mountain cool in summer, with ocean breezes and ceiling fans in every room. And you can cozy up around the gas log fire in winter, perhaps with a good book from the library.

"Cloud 9" is our holiday retreat which is also rented throughout the year for families, friends, wedding parties, romantic weekends and work retreats. Mid-January to March is more often available though other times are also possible depending on bookings. Please enquire about non-simultaneous swaps.
