About our home

Our home has a swimming pool, tennis court (with practice wall) basketball hoop and playing area. Our house has ducted airconditioning, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, family room, rumpus room with soccer table, dining room, big kitchen, lounge room, bar etc. There is a patio area next to the pool and a back deck looking out onto the countryside, to watch the sunsets. The back of the house is completely private and looks over the Hunter River flood plain which is uninhabited except for grazing cattle and horses. Our neighbours have chickens and turkeys which occasionally roam around our backyard. we also often get fresh eggs from our neighbours. The front yard has a massive fig tree about 20 metres high and 30 metres wide, as well as many other smaller trees.

We have all modern conveniences including a 127 cm TV.

We are located about 20 minutes away from central Newcastle and its many restaurants, beaches and other attractions. 30 minutes in another direction is Port Stephens (Nelson Bay) which is as attractive as any other resort area in the world, with beautiful beaches, nature areas, deep sea fishing, dolphin cruises, camel rides etc, etc. In yet another direction 30 to 40 minutes puts you in the centre of the Hunter Valley, a world famous wine growing region with many gourmet restaurants, cellar door sales and tastings as well as many other attractions. It is only 8 minutes from home to the start of the freeway to Sydney which takes 70 minutes to deliver you to the Sydney suburbs. another 25 minutes to the Harbour bridge and Opera House.

Our neighbourhood is quiet and friendly with about 40 families living in our own separte subdivision on large blocks of land. There is no through traffic and we nearly all know each other.

We have a great variety of birds, with between 20 to 50 different species to be seen each week. 5 minutes away kangaroos can be seen grazing, and for people with skill and luck, the occasional koala.

Our family consists of Michael ( formerly a lawyer, who has now seen the light and operates a document storage business). Liz, who works part time in a legal office and our twin daughters who are in their second last year of high school.

We have had 2 previous very successful exchanges.
