About our home

Enjoy the sounds of waves breaking from every room! The garden ends where the beach starts. Situated on an small island - connected by a bridge - in a quiet suburb only 10 minutes drive from Cairns CDB, the vista is the coral sea out to the barrier reef with mountains on the right and islands to the left. Stylishly renovated and furnished older style timber construction with mostly original features, this cottage has 3 bedrooms with king/queen beds, a tastefully refurbished bathroom with both bath and shower, an office with a sofa bed for unexpected guests, a quaint kitchen, a laundry area with washer and dryer, clothes lines; the sitting room is only 5m from the beach.
Outside at the front facing the sea there is a garden including a 6-8 seat table and chairs, loungers, a hammock and swing chair, steps down the 1.5m rock wall to the beach. In the courtyard there is a beautiful minimum maintenance 7m oval plunge pool that blends into the lush tropical garden that extends around the bedrooms to the road.
Stroll down the beach 1km to the headland or off the island along the new esplanade. Behind the house there is a nature reserve with Australian fauna and flora as well as an elderly very friendly bull who was washed down the river 10 years ago and has taken up residence. Fish from the frnt yard or just sit, relax and watch the bird life, occasional dolphins and turtles swimming past the doors.
This quiet beach with only 26 houses is the best kept secret in Cairns, ideal for a quiet holiday but close to major attractions such as the Barrier Reef, Atherton Tablelands, Daintree Rainforest the Cape York peninsula. Cairns itself is a world renowned tourist destination which has all modern amenities including a wide choice of international and local restaurants, a modern hospital, an international airport, rail and road links
