About our home

Our home is only minutes to the city by ferry or train, it has recently been completely renovated and is very modern, clean and tidy.
The house is full of sunlight and fresh air. We also get the most outstanding sunsets. We have featured in two house magazines.
The house sits on a steep block which provides us with stunning harbour views from all three levels, however that also means we have a number of stairs.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed and a balcony with harbour views. The main house also has a child’s room with a single bed and an office with a single sofa bed. There is a separate guest room with a queen size Italian sofa bed which is overlooking the plunge pool. This room has a separate entrance so would be great for another couple but probably not for young children. All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom each.

McMahons Point is a wonderful part of Sydney. Very quiet and historic with great restaurants and cafes yet it is so close to the city. We love taking the Ferry to the city, it only takes 5 minutes and goes under the Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House on the way to Circular Quay. The train is only 2 stops into town from North Sydney Station (about 10 min walk from home).
Better still you can just walk across the Bridge and take in the view of the whole city. On your way stop into Luna Park the famous amusement park or have a swim at the beautiful North Sydney Pool, which is on the edge of the Harbour looking up at the Bridge. When you get to the other side of the bridge you are in the heart of the famous Rocks area. You will never forget you are in Sydney!

Note I have included two location shots of the Harbour Bridge, these were taken a 5 minute walk from our house.

We would be interested in short term exchanges around Australia during school holidays and longer exchanges overseas. In particular:
- Paris - We will be there in late June 2013
- Japan - we love Japan always keen to go back
- Beijing/shanghai - our daughter is studying Mandarin so plan regular visits to China.
- Open to any interesting places and great houses!

3 things they loved about the swap:
  • Walking to Blues Point Road for great coffee and an excellent, locally owned book shop.
  • Taking the ferry to Balmain for lunch and Circular Quay for a movie
  • The children loved swimming in the pool, going to Luna Park and looking after Jackson the cat.

How much they saved: We've rented in Sydney before and costs at least A$5000/week for a nice house in a central locations

3 things they loved about the swap:
  • The superbly efficient and really friendly lead up to the exchange.
  • The very stylish modern design and the lovely view of Sydney Harbour from the home - especially on New Years Eve - FANTASTIC!
  • The fact that whilst we knew we were is someone else's home, it really seemed like

How much they saved: It is impossible to put a dollar value on what we saved - but obviously a great amount. The cost of a harbourview house right on Sydney Harbour, within minutes to the Sydney CBD and of the quality of this home, would be enormous
