About our home

Our home is a modern and beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland home, with light and space. The house is on on 1.5 acres and has 5 bedrooms, an ensuite off the main bedroom, and large living spaces. There is a large verandah overlooking a completely private 11 metre pool, and a pleasant rural outlook beyond the property. The grounds have trees to climb, a fort and swings, a springless, walled trampoline large enough for the children to do running laps around (2.4metres across) and various bicycles, scooters and the like.

The home has 2 large plasma TVs with DVD players/recorders, cable TV, playstation 2, electric piano, ADSL broadband, modern kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and other appliances.

The home sleeps 7 people easily in comfort. There are 3 different dining areas (kitchen area overlooking downstairs living room; upstairs living/dining room; and the 45 m2 verandah overlooking the pool). The home is open plan but also has large sliding doors that can be closed to separate living and dining spaces.

The main bedroom and upstairs living/dining area are air conditioned. Other areas have ceiling fans.

The home is 15 minutes from the beach, 40 minutes from Noosa, 20 minutes from the Mountains (Blackall Range with Maleny, Montville, Mapleton villages), and close to nationally renown markets for artists and local crafts at Eumundi, Yandina and Montville. The local town of Nambour is 3 minutes drive and has all services (population around 25000).

Maroochy River is 10 minutes away with sailing catamarans and motorboats for hire. Noosa river is 40 minutes away with riverboat tours of the lakes and national parks in the upper noosa river.

Brisbane Airport is 1 hour away by car and there are multiple door to door shuttle services available.

Ferries to Fraser Island (1.5 hour north) and Moreton Bay Islands (1 hour south) are accessable.

Our home is private and in a cul de sac with a few other families with children on acreage blocks of land.

We are a paediatrician and a nurse and have 3 daughters aged 10, 8 and 4. He is very into boats, and sails and fishes on the local rivers, in the ocean and in Moreton Bay (world heritage listed marine park off Brisbane). She is into self indulgence and is not computer literate enough to write her own bio, and so is at something of a disadvantage. Oh well.

We would like to take our usually well behaved children to the UK to show them where all their dead relatives came from, and explore some history together.

We have both travelled enough in our youth to be content to have a stable base to explore from while on vacation, rather than be constantly on the move. We hope to offer the same to a like-minded family.

We plan to be away for 4 weeks including the 2 week school vacation period from 20 September to 5 October 2008. We can travel in any 4 week period that includes the school vacation. We do not expect to house swap for the entire 4 weeks, but would prefer at least 2 weeks.
