About our home

Our historically listed house was built by George Agnew in 1883.
He was the founder of the Nundah carriage works and was of high regard in the community. He also volunteered his time in the council and was an esteemed personality in the area.
Sandgate was a destination for the wealthy and as the area was not connected by rail to the city.
When the rail line was built people no longer had to use their horses and buggies for a full days trip. From then on more people came to the area and it is now very popular with families for the weekends. The tidal flats allow dogs and kids to play out as far as a kilometre at times
Sandgate is 25 minutes by rail to the city and houses such as ours rare and highly prized.
We love our house and for Australia and this area it is considered historically significant and old in its history, although we realise not compared to european history.
