About our home

Our lovely weatherboard and sandstone home was substantially rebuilt in 2009 whilst part of the original 1932 Californian Bungalow was retained resulting in a quirky mix of the old and new. The home's positioning takes advantage of the East/North/West aspect (optimum for the Southern Hemisphere!) and leads through two sets of glass double doors to multi level level decking, outdoor dining, BBQ and relaxing seating.

Over the last 2 years the landscaped gardens have flourished and now provide a lovely and relaxing setting. After work or on the weekends the original west facing verandah (is this an internationally used word?) is a lovely area to enjoy a drink. The large South facing back yard is the engine room of the garden with various fruit trees, perennial herbs interspersed with ornamental trees and flowers.

Inside two lovely and spacious bedrooms are found in the original part of the home, 2 single beds in one and a lovely antique brass bed with open fire place and bay window in the other. The master bedroom is reached via five steps from entrance landing and comprises a huge bedroom including library and couch, north facing windows (again, optimum for our hemisphere), large bathroom with double basins and walk in shower and adjacent dressing room.

But....the space we love most is the open plan kitchen overlooking the family room and dining area. The kitchen has been set up for serious cooking, and it gets plenty of workouts! The family area has a large modular sofa, gas log fire and the recycled table has seating for 12, plenty of room to spread out. Adjacent is a separate library with relaxing armchairs for some quiet time, reading, listening to music etc, again with some lovely aspects. Looking out to the lights at night is lovely. Another bathroom and separate toilet/wc is also on this level.

Practically speaking there is central heating throughout the home, double glazing of all windows and glass doors (excluding the original 2 bedrooms), ceiling fans in 2 of the 3 bedrooms and family area and an automatic drip watering system for the garden. We have wifi, 50'' plasma (hidden when not in use), wii, and pay tv, and a large remote controlled roller door garage.
