About our home

The world heritage listed Blue Mountains are renowned for their dramatic scenery and geology, beautiful gardens and domestic architecture, quaint villages with shops and cafes and galleries, and wonderful bushwalking opportunities on every scale. Wentworth Falls is a safe, friendly community, commuting distance to Sydney, one and a half hours by car (100km) and two hours by train to Central Station. It is considered one of the most prized of villages and the house is located in a very desirable part, on the south side, metres from its famous walks. The very pleasant Conservation Hut cafe at the far end of the street overlooks the Valley of the Waters across to Mount Solitary. The quaint small village is a 15 minute walk or five minute drive. It has several cafe/restaurants, antique shops, gourmet bakery, butcher, green grocer, small supermarket, specialist Asian spice shop, newsagent/post office, chemist, train station and the Grand View Hotel. Five minutes by car to the next village Leura, larger and busier with tourists visiting its many cafes, restaurants and shops, then frontier town Katoomba with the Three Sisters and Echo Point, cultural centre, the Carrington Hotel, music venues and festivals, hiking shops and large supermarkets, More remote Blackheath 20 minutes with more wonderful views, walks, galleries, pubs, cafes, antiques, gourmet dining.

The accommodation is an attractive low slung modern solid brick single storey family home with lots of glass and light. There are leafy outlooks from all rooms to a landscaped garden of hedges and gravel with silver birches and cypresses, Asian in feel. The kitchen, dining, living areas are open plan at one end of the house, plus study and main bathroom, and the four bedrooms at the other, the main with walk in robe and ensuite. The house has electric solar power, gas central heating and also a slow combustion fireplace. There are two outdoor eating areas, a sunny deck with umbrellas and barbecue, and a shady spot in the garden. Plentiful parking on site.

There are locally and world famous wine regions of historic and cultural interest on the plains to the west at Mudgee, Bathurst and Orange, a couple of hours drive away.

This is my main home. I have a penthouse apartment in Sydney's central suburb of Surry Hills, five minutes walk from Central Station, which could be part of a swap. It also is advertised on this site.
