Just ten minutes from both the crashing waves on Bondi Beach in one direction and the buzz of Sydney city centre in the other, you are more likely to be woken by the sound of parakeets and kookaburras  than traffic when you stay at our home.

Looking out from one of the four sun drenched, north facing balconies over the magnificent trees of Cooper Park, with glimpses of the Harbour Bridge and City to the North West, it's hard to imagine that you are just three minutes walk from one of the biggest shopping centres and cinema complexes in the Southern Hemisphere.

Painted in bright colours the house, which people say "looks like a wedding cake", perches on a high ridge over the beautiful park, which contains some of the only real rain forrest in Sydney. Tucked away down a little walkway off the street the entrance looks like you are walking into a London terrace but once you go into the kitchen and see the sparkling view you know you are in Australia.

The house, which is packed with books and Australian art,  has four double bedrooms (two with queen sized beds) and a further sun room by the pool which has a double pull-out couch. There are three bathrooms (two showers and one bath) two televisions (Foxtel etc) and good Wi-Fi internet connection. The sitting room is bright and comfortable with a gas fired "log" fire. The adjoining dining room has a table for eight as well as a piano for dinner party entertainment!

The walk through kitchen is painted apple green and has lots of modern appliances and plenty of crockery, glasses and kitchen ware as well as an Ilve gas oven and cook top. And there are beautiful polished wooden floors and Persian rugs throughout the main kitchen and living areas.

Outside on the mid-level balcony there is a barbecue and table for six overlooking the beautiful swimming pool below. If you wish you can hide away on the fifth level balcony on the lovely swing chair from which you can spy the Harbour Bridge as well as enjoying magnificent views of the night sky.

Situated in up-market Woollahra, View Street is close to a huge Westfield Shopping Centre, trains and busses as well as many delicious restaurants, pubs and cafes for which Sydney is famous. Just three minutes drive down the hill you come to Double Bay, which boasts all the top fashion labels but, for those wanting more trendy fashion, Oxford Street and the popular Saturday markets are a short walk away.

If you want some peace and quiet or a game of tennis Cooper Park is right on your doorstep. There is a playground for children, a tennis centre, playing fields and wonderful walks through the woods where there's a good chance you will be laughed at by a family of kookaburras!
