My funky little house is a quiet haven from the bustle and noise of Phnom Penh. This comfortable little home is furnished with an eclectic mix of Khmer antiques, Art Deco and modern cane. There's a large library of contemporary fiction, a pretty random mix of jazz, classical and world music, an huge collection of cookery books, a number of copy DVDs from the local market.
The house is ideally situated down a relatively quiet little dead end street with a friendly population of local Khmer people. It's very close to the ever-popular Russian Market with all it's cheap CDs, DVDs, factory outlet clothes, silver, souvenirs etc. It is also a couple of minutes walk from the popular Beautiful Shoes where you can have your favourite boots or shoes copied or try something completely new ...
The infamous Tuol Sleng prison is very close. And only a few minutes further and you are in the centre of Phnom Penh with all the bustling bars and restaurants (to suit all pockets and tastes), shops of all kinds, the river (take a bottle and some nibbles and go for a sunset cruise!) the Palace, the museum ...
A 3/4 hour bus ride will take you to the coast. Rather longer, 6 hours will get you to Siem Reap and the amazing temples of Angkor.
But you may find that you just want to sit on the balcony in the evening with a book and the smell of jasmine wafting over you. You can order food in if you dont want to cook or cant be bothered to go out and sit and enjoy the pondok. You might want to barbecue. Or have your breakfast outside before the day heats up.
This house offers endless opportunities for you to really enjoy your time in Phnom Penh.
