About our home

Hello!

Our house by the sea is on a Gulf Island on the west coast. It’s a perfect place to relax to island life, with easy day trips to Vancouver or Whistler. It's less than an hour to Vancouver (including a 20 minute ferry ride), so you can enjoy all the city has to offer, and then retreat to the tranquility and beauty of ocean, mountains and trees. We are perfectly situated on the side of the island with the village and ferry dock, so we are a 10 minute walk to the ocean, swimming beaches, all the shops, restaurants and the ferry.

Bowen Island is known for it’s network of trails, through temperate rainforest with old growth trees. It offers the best day-kayaking on the South Coast, hiking (level terrain or mountains with spectacular views of the surrounding islands and ocean), a great golf course, swimming the many beaches, paddle boarding, tennis, boating, sailing and whale watching from nearby Horseshoe Bay.

The village has gourmet restaurants that have often been written about by Vancouver magazines: http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bowen-island-bc-food-tour

You can see more photos of Bowen at my website: https://schaeferimages.smugmug.com/Art/Bowen-Island-Portfolio/

The local tourism office has great information and a 3 minute video showcasing the island: https://www.tourismbowenisland.com/

And from Tourism BC: http://www.hellobc.com/bowen-island.aspx

Our house has 3 bedrooms and a den. The open concept ground floor with living room, dining area and kitchen has large picture windows and sliding glass doors to take in the fabulous view. All 3 bedrooms are on the second floor, all with views towards the ocean and mountains. There are two full bathrooms, both with baths and showers. The large deck offers a place to lounge and dine outside. There is a tranquil garden area with seating that’s full of flowers and fruit trees. In the back is a grass yard for kids to play, including a large netted trampoline.

Use of our 2015 Volkswagen Jetta during your stay is possible.

Thanks for looking, and please let us know if you're interested in seeing this part of the world!
