About our home

Welcome to Victoria BC. Beautiful large home. Would love to swap with someone in New York City. Build in the 1950's, hardwood floors throughout the main floor, newly renovated bathroom upstairs and kitchen also new, Beautiful backyard with fruit trees and manicured garden (in the summer) very private for barbaques or dining al fresco. Lawn furniture is provided n the summer. The neighbourhood is called Oak Bay; it's a little like country living but we're actually very near downtown....20 minute walk. The house Sleeps 6 comfortably. There's two large bedrooms upstairs both (one with a queen and one with a double.) We also have a full basement with two more bedrooms (one very large and one smaller bedroom), a small bathroom and a family room. Downtown is very cool, lots of dining, dancing, museums, art galleries, theatre, festivals. You can walk downtown along the coast line, it's a beautiful walk; or you can take the bust just down the street. You'll find everything you need in the neighbourhood. Oak Bay village down the street is a strip of street with funky shops and more: grocer, bakery, liquor store, butcher, chucuterie, veggie stand, pubs and coffee houses and some wonderful anitque shops and the best 2nd hand store in the world where you'll find everything from a beautiful framed print or photo to table settings) In the evenings I like to walk to the beach - Gonzales Bay is just down the street about 10 minutes from the house. There you will experience the beauty of the Olympic Mountains in all their glory. Photos are of the neighbourhood. I added some photos from places we go to in the summer on the island to enjoy the natural history and beauty of Vancouver Island: East Sooke Park (start of the Pacific Rim Park on the west side of the island - fantastic hike and you can make it as long or short as you like) Cowichan Lake (amazing for camping and you can always count on the dry hot climate of the Cowichan Valley) , Cathederal Grove...(giant old growth trees); Long Beach for surfing and hiking. all these places are close to Victoria on the island and accessible by car. Longest trip would be to Long Island which is a 3 hour drive. You can also hop on a ferry and visit Vancouver! Ferry terminal is a 40 minute drive from Victoria.
