About our home

We live in the heart of historical Quebec City (233 km north-east of Montreal), the only fortified city in North America. Our apartment is spacious (100m2), comfortable and receives lots of natural light. It can easily accommodate 4 people. We live on a street with lots of trees, in a residential area called Montcalm. The apartment has a small balcony in the front, with table and chairs, so you can enjoy the view on the Abraham plains. This large park stretching along the St Lawrence river is a meeting point for runners, skaters or people who just love to walk.

All the services are nearby (bus, supermarkets, bakeries, coffee shops) and there are shopping centers, highways and bike paths not too far away. In the area, there is also another large park, the Bois-de-Coulonges park. It has beautiful gardens and offers a nice view on the river.

Our apartment is on the ground floor of a 3-floors building. It has five rooms: the living room (with TV and DVD) opens on the dining area where we have installed a home office (Internet connection available); the master’s bedroom has a double bed and the guestroom/gym has a TV set, a sofa-bed, an chair-bed, a spinning bike and other fitness equipment. The kitchen is well-equiped (with stove, microwave, fridge, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine) bathroom has a bath with showerhead. In the entrance, there is a hall with lots of bookshelves. Two hybrid bikes are there for you to borrow.

We live at a short walking distance from the Museum of fine arts of Quebec, the restaurants and terraces of the Grande-Allée and the Parliament. St-Jean street is not too far, along with the Youville square and the historical district of Old Quebec (listed in the Unesco’s World Heritage list).

Quebec also offers numerous bike paths stretching from the promenade Samuel-de-Champlain, along the St-Lawrence river, to the Montmorency waterfalls, in front of île d’Orléans, and the Huron-Wendake reservation. The region is ideal for outdoor activities. It is renown for the beauty of its landscapes and the proximity of the wildlife: the Réserve faunique des Laurentides, the Jacques-Cartier National Park and the St-Joseph lake are at a half-hour distance by car. The Grands-Jardins National Park and the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park, in the Charlevoix region, are an hour away. The Bas-Saint-Laurent and the Saguenay fjord (perfect for whale spotting!) are less than two hours away.

We would like to exchange our urban apartment for a house on the beach, east coast of USA

We are a couple: Michel (61 years old), a young retiree, and Lucie (57 years old), an archivist. We love jogging and biking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter… and we love reading and traveling all year long! We are parents and now grandparents of a little girl.
