About our home

Close to Niagara Falls, this chic, modern home is brand-new, with clean, upscale décor and a great location in the heart of Niagara's wine country, We are in a quiet, leafy part of St Catharines, in a wonderful neighbourhood. It is our second home, so non-simultaneous exchanges are possible. The main floor of the house is open concept with a flat screen tv, and bright, fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there is a large master bedroom (king sized bed) with a vanity and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The spare room (queen bed) has its own bathroom as well. There is an office with a printer, and a library alcove at the top of the stairs. The backyard is very quiet and newly landscaped with a full set of comfortable summer furniture and a gas BBQ. The basement has full laundry facilities. We have 2 well maintained bicycles available and there is parking for one car at the house. More parking is available in a lot around the corner.

Neighbourhood

Buzzy restaurants
We are a 5 min walk from downtown St Catharines, 15 minutes from Niagara Falls, 1 hour from Toronto and 20 min from the village of Niagara on the Lake. There are 100 + wineries in the area and they all have events running year-round (http://winecountryontario.ca). Many of the wineries have restaurants on-sight, and there are a few local breweries in Niagara-on-the-lake.
Cozy cafés
Downtown St Catharines has a Farmer's Market that runs 3 days a week, as well as great restaurants, bars and shopping.
Retail therapy
The new Outlet Mall Collection is 5 minutes away, The Pen Center is close by (5 min) and downtown St Catharines has many interesting, independant retailers. The village of Niagara on the Lake is full of boutique shoppes and there are plenty of antique shops in the area, too. The Buffalo mall 'La Galareia', is just across the border- about 30 min.
Bit of culture
The Shaw Festival offers world class live theatre, just down the road in Niagara-on-the-lake. The town of Stratford, an hour or so to the north, offers Shakespearean theatre at its finest. Toronto is an easy day-trip away, by car or train. The VIA Train Rail Station is minutes away.
Walks in the park
Montebello Park, the nicest parks in St Catharines, offers a roster of events all summer - including Friday night movies, Ribfest, and The Craft Beer Celebration. In September, the Grape and Wine Festival is held in Montebello Park.
Spot of exercise
There are dozens of golf courses in Niagara, a renouned tennis academy in Vineland (15 min), sailing and fishing on Lake Ontario, and rowing in Port Dalhousie. The Henley Regatta is an important rowing competition (5 min). There is hiking on the Bruce Trail, a trail that runs north for 900 km. There are numerous cycling paths in town and the Short Hills Park area, as well as along the Niagara Parkway river. There is good skiing across the border in the US at Kissing Bridge, 30 min away, and in Collingwood, Ontario- about 1.5 hrs to the north.
Day tripping
Whether its a day trip into Toronto, a quick run to the Buffalo airport, or a visit to the Mennonite farmers' markets in Kitchener-Waterloo, they are all within close proximity and easy-day tripping.
