About our home

A large, adobe, 2 story Colonial-style home on 11,000 m. of land located in the Aconcagua Valley of Central Chile. The house has 3 large bedrooms, the Master BD has a private bath, jacuzzi and separate shower. Each bedroom opens to a balcony with magnificent views of the Andes.

The LR/DR combination is large and rather formal. There is an office, a laundry room and a spacious kitchen with all the needed appliances. There is a pool and gardens and there is a gardener available f(or about $25.00/day).

There is a wrap around walk-way on both floors, three large patios, a bar-b-que, picnic area and mud oven, in addition to the bar-b-que pit. There is ample parking, electric door openers and an up-to-date alarm system.

There is a Tennis Club right next door, with a Tennis Pro who gives inexpensive lessons ($6.00/hr plus users fees... another $3.00). There is a maid who provides services M-F, 8 a.m till 5 p.m. and Saturday till noon. Her fee is around $100.00/week.

Los Andes is one hour north of Santiago, 90 minutes from the coast and 2 hours from the border with Argentina. If one likes to ski, Portillo is about an hour from the house and has the longest and highest runs in Chile. If one prefers the coast, Viña del Mar (and Valparaiso) are also about 90 minutes from here. Viña is the Number One Costal Resort in Chile.
Los Andes is an agricultural area specializing in fruit and wine. There are several vineyards which can be visited and enjoyed including Viña San Esteben which features high altitude reds and cool, sweet whites. English-speaking tours and private lunches are availabe and affordable.

Los Andes has clean air, a few foot hills that are easy to climb and offer breath-taking views, has easy and affordable transportation to all other parts of Chile (rt: LA-STGO: $10.00, to the coast $12.00), a cinema and varios events typical of the Region.

We are a bi-cultural couple who have been married for 33 years. We have lived in the US (for 20 years) and in Chile for the last 18. Both of us are University professors and private business persons. I, as a teacher of History and Literature, now teaching ESL; and he as a Geneticist (PhD in Agronomy) with a Seed Business.
Our children are grown. Our son lives in CA and our daughter is doing her M.A. in Australia. She lives with her husband and son.
We hope to be able to find a similar couple who might be interested in discovering this beautiful country from the comfort of our home, while enjoying a large personal library, computer acess, and many extras that make life more comfortable.
