About our home

This is a small easy to keep apartment, in a 2-storey Residence with private parking space and little garden. It has a double bedroom with view out, over the neighbouring homes, towards the hills. It is south facing, therefore sunny and bright as soon as the sun comes round (which is fairly often!). There is a balcony with chairs and table where you'd eat breakfast/lunch and (in summer) dinner. The dining area is hardly used during the summer months but is available when the winter temperature is not conducive to eating outside. The living room has armchairs, sofa, TV (French and Spanish reception), CDs and player, radio, books and local guide books/information. A small bathroom with toilet, basin and a full bath. The Residence has only 20 apartments, most of which are used by their owners for holidays. It is quiet and peaceful.

The apartment is situated in a residential area only 12-minutes walk from historic Collioure with its cobbled streets, colourful houses, delicious restaurants and 4 little beaches. Walks up into the vineyards and onwards to the hills. Nearby, old villages, historic castles, wine producers and, in summer, swimming beaches up and down the coast. Boat rides down the coast, water sports, swimming, sailing and walking are standard pastimes. The departmental capital, Perpignan, is just 25 minutes away. Spain: the Costa Brava, the cities of Figueres, Girona and Barcelona are all an easy drive or a hop on the train. You can come and go in a day. Nearest airport? GIRONA, Spain with all its cheap flights throughout Europe, or Perpignan with flights from the UK.

Us? A youngish but retired couple who spend lots of time travelling. French husband was a university lecturer in Germany and English wife, a writer and travel journalist. Now enjoying life. Husband mad about satellite technology and classical piano music, enjoys walks, swimming and learning languages. Wife still enjoys working (freelance) and painting. Tries to learn languages but doesn't do too well. Between us we speak English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. We are often overseas with friends and family in Cape Town, Spain, Greece or Mexico and so are interested in non simultaneous exchanges as well as simultaneous ones.
