“We had a very pleasant week in Philippe’s smart ecological house, it is a great place to be in when visiting Paris. We enjoyed our stay in April 2016 in this charming house in Les Batignolles. As Philippe was not present when we arrived, he had organized everything smoothly with one of his nice neighbors. We immediately fell in love with Philippe’s tasteful and easy-lived house. Though it is in a backyard, it is quiet and private but it is also light and airy. The little green yard in front of the house is lovely and gives you a sense of peace and quiet in the lively city of Paris. As we have been to Paris many times over the years, we wanted to explore Philippe’s quarters, Les Batignolles - a new part of Paris for us and we just loved every minute of it. We could have stayed here much longer, continuing exploring the markets, small restaurants, cafés, shops and the animated parks and streets. At the same time nearby access to metro and buses can take you to all other parts of Paris. We really want to come back! We highly recommend a swap with Philippe, because his house is so very nice to stay in and he is a very nice and responsible person to have in your own place!”

About our home
Our home, is one amongst the ten first ecological houses of centre Paris. It was built in 2010 with a modernist inspiration at the back of a simple courtyard of this very popular area of the 17th Arrondissement of Paris. It is situtated in a working class area with very mixed population, very near from trendy village des batignoles where many painters lived and on a straight line between Montmartre and Les Champs Elysées.
63 m² (678 ft²) for the house and 50 m² (538 ft²) for the garden. A wooden frame for the walls and a supperb tripple glazing facade makes for a very quiet place overlooking the cutest japanese inspired garden. It has appeared in a number of ecological architecture and interior design magazines.
I personnaly made the decoration from scracth and chose carefully paches of coulour to brighten up very light coulours on the walls of the main room. Some of the funiture has been created by myself the rest has been carefully chosen amongst simple antiques. The main room offers a Sofa area and an open kitchen with a big table. It also features a very high ceiling and therefore a mezzanine hosts a library with desk and computer. The bedroom is more intimate and also looks out on the garden. It is fusnished with a queen size bed and an amazinly comfortable ecological memory foam matress. Last, the shower room is very high in coulour and equipped with design but ecological water distribution.
The house has got most of comfort equipements such as Apple Computer, WIFI, HIFI, Washing machine and Dishwasher. There is no television.
The garden is furnished with a table, chairs and desk chair. There is also a velum to protect from the sun in summer.
The house has appeared in design ecological magazines and books. You can check the following link for an interview of my architect in French with views of the house : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trOsr18iwDE

“the house is really lovely, the location is brilliant and Philippe is a charming a d mindful host. Highly recommend a stay here. ”
“The photos and description don't do this wonderful haven justice. Philippe's apartment far exceeded our expectations. The interior design gives a real sense of light and spaciousness. Combine that with the delicious courtyard... and the stylish furnishings... The apartment wasn't just a base for our Parisienne experience, it was a real part of it. The close neighbors (in the other apartments and studios of this building) were very friendly. One wonderful woman helped us out with keys etc, and even helped us book our taxi at the end of our stay. The location is great. Really close to a metro station (from which you can quickly and easily get to anywhere in Paris). On the first evening we arrived we walked (a few kms) from the apartment to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. The apartment is in a vibrant area with lots of cafes, a supermarket across the street, boulangeries, fresh fruit stores, and we never had any safety worries wandering around, day or night. Philippe was great at getting back to us while we were organising the swap, and when we needed some extra information during our stay. Highly recommended!”
“The house was truly wonderful - really comfortable, light and cosy. We sometimes had to force ourselves to go out to see the city because the house was so nice! The location is great, it's very quiet and peaceful but loads of great things within easy walking distance and a Metro station just 3 minutes walk away. The directions to get there were really clear and everything we needed was explained perfectly when we arrived. It was lovely to sit out in the garden and eat. All of the appliances: stove, fridge, shower were very high quality and our hosts were friendly and great at communicating everything to us. It was one of the best holiday's we've ever been on, mainly thanks to this great house!!”
“Philippe's house is a lovely place in Paris and we had very pleasant days there. The original and "natural" environment of the house is a pleasure after a day spent travelling around Paris. Phipille gave us all the informations for managing his property at the best. Thank You and hope to come back. Piero, Nicoletta and Alice”
“Imagine living in an ecological loft full of light and with a garden in Paris. You should try it!”
3 things they loved about the trip
- It felt like home.
- The garden
- The neighborood
“We had a great time at Philippe's home. Full of light, ecologically heated, nice garden. We spent lots of time in Museums, but we also had the time to enjoy the popular Batignoles neighborood, its nice market, and with many nice restaurants and bars. We spent New Year's eve in Montmartre, just a few steps away. Philippe was a great host and all was as we expected it to be. We hope to come back one day! ”
