About our home
We are a young, professional couple (I'm American, from San Francisco, my girlfriend is French - on parle français si vous voulez!) who live in central Paris (not suburbs!), one block away from the park Les Buttes Chaumont (the most beautiful park in Paris!) with metro stations just 2 minutes away, you'll be right on the center of Paris (Châtelet, the Louvre, Hotel de Ville, the Marais, shopping...) in less than 8 minutes! (Just 3 Metro stops to République, 5 stops to the Marais, 8 to the Louvre. Figure about 1- 1.5 minutes per metro stop).
You'll have easy access to the park for a bit of fresh air and a break from the hustle and bustle of the city; shops, supermarkets, cafes, bars, etc all within a block of our place. Here's a map with a few useful things near our apartment: (link replaced)
The apartment itself is a typical Parisian 45 square meter/485sqft one bedroom, with hardwood floors, a fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom (with bathtub!) plus separate toilet, arranged in a star format so you get 360° exposure, making the apartment very bright. Our street is a one-way residential street so it's very quiet, plus we've got all double-paned windows, and the bedroom is in the back overlooking an enclosed green space (no road, so no traffic). Plus we essentially share just one wall with a neighbor (who is currently away) so you'll have peace and quiet! Some more of our amenities: Washing machine (no dryer, but drying rack), gas stove (sorry, no oven, it's busted, haven't replaced it yet), microwave, fridge w/freezer, toaster, kettle, food processor, Italian espresso machine (Gaggi Evolution Espresso - coffee lovers will love this!), tv (some English channels!), bathtub, separate wc, hair dryer, iron, vacuum, dust buster/mini vacuum... And of course all the usual stuff like dishes, pots/pans, etc. We also have France/Paris guidebooks and maps available for you to use. Linen too. But we can bring our own if you prefer, no problem.
Another pretty major plus, especially if you bring your smartphone/laptop: you'll have free secured wifi access (fiber optic connection speeds!), and FREE calls to USA (mobile and landline) from our home land line.
We've just booked our plane tickets to go to San Francisco for the 28th of July to the 18th of August, so we're really exited to go! We would love to do a swap for all or part of that time, to feel at home during our trip (vs. sleeping on the sofas of friends and family). If you're interested in doing an exchange, don't hesitate to email us and we'll explain more about our place, the neighborhood, and of course we'll send you more pictures and videos. (Sorry, the photos posted here aren't very good!) We could even speak over the phone or Skype...
Hope to hear from you soon!
