Fully modernised 70 square meter houseboat. Spacious living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the canal - no direct neighbours opposite to spoil your view. Adjoing kitchen area with cooker, 5 ring gas hob, fridge freezer and dishwaher. Seperate wahing machine / drier. Large bathroom with bath (rare in Amsterdam) and overhead shower attachment. Two bedrooms - one with queen (small) double bed and the other with one bunk bed suitable for a child. The settee will also fold down to provide another sleeping area if required. Due to the proximity of the water would prefer a child free swap.

Outside there is a large private terrace / sun deck. Street parking available but expensive. There is also a small (under 6m) yacht / pleasure cruiser moored to the houseboat available for boat savvy people to cruise the canals - you can be in Leidsplein in less than 20 minutes.

The areas where the houseboat is moored is quiet yet around the corner is the busy shopping street called Kinkerstraat and the popular market Tenkaarterstraat. Vondelpark is easily walkable in the other direction. There are 5 different trams within 5 minutes walking distance although it is easy to walk directly into the centre (25 minutes). An all night bus service is also just around the corner, There are 2 bikes available which is the easiest and quickest way of travelling.

Amsterdam is a great place for a city break, to visit museums or to enjoy the street cafe culture. Insurance for houseboats is different to normal housing accomodation so there is a strict no smoking / candles in the bedroom policy - smoking permitted in the lounge area only. Care also has to be taken to turn off some water inlet pipes (i.e. to the washing machine) after use - fire and flooding are my main worries! Otherwise it's just a home like any other.

TV is digital - CNN and BBC World included. Most Dutch programmes have UK/USA programmes which are broadcast in English with Dutch subtitles.

House rules: general care that this is my home / don't bring back strangers / do feed the swans when they stop at the window (friends of mine!).
