About our home

Charming apartement in the historic city center of Amsterdam. The apartment is on the top two floors of a listed building from the late 1800's. It therefore means a 2,5 stair climb but worth every step. The decor is bohemian/thrift store chic with wooden floors, antiques mixed with vintage and family earlooms and the house has been featured on a few interior decorating websites. There is a new kitchen with all mod cons including a Nespresso coffee maker. We have a wonderful spa like bathroom. Furthermore a large living/dining room with lots of light and a French balcony (soon to be replaced with small balcony with table and two seats) facing the Gardens in the back. Upstairs are two bedrooms and an office. One bedroom has a double bed, a TV and DVD player. The other is our guestroom with a very comfortable sofabed.

Several trams nearby and the airport is about 35 minutes by tram and train or 20 by car.

The house is just off the main canals that together make Amsterdam the Venice of the North and listed on the Unesco world Heritage list. Being so close to the canals allows for wonderful evening strolls. The lively center with all it has to offer is just around the corner. South of our neighbourhood is the Bohemian 'Pijp' area with quaint boutiques and bars and restaurants. The 'Utrechtsestraat' with some of Amsterdam's best restaurants is less than a 5 minutes walk. The main museums are around the corner too. This area is very much in demand with locals for it's convenient and central/historic location yet quiet and quaint village like feel.

The house is not ideal for families with small children/toddlers.

For 2012 we are looking for a beach/warm destination in the USA in fall (late sept/oct/nov) and a surprise location for new years! In the mean time we are always open for requests!
