About our home

This is the view from our lounge room over Rotorua-nui-a-Kahumatamomoe (the second great lake of Kahumatamomoe - an ancestor of ours). Most people know the lake as Lake Rotorua.

Rotorua is located in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. It is the heart of Maori Culture, Rotorua - and it is beautiful. We are home to 16 crystal lakes and rivers - teeming with Trout. We have an incredible volcanic landscape, geothermal springs, mountains and forest ways.

Rotorua is a 40 minute drive to the beach, 2.5 hours to New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland and 2.5 hours to the ski slopes of Mt Ruapehu - the North Island Snow Ski mecca.

Our home is at Kawaha Point, a leafy lake edge peninsula settlement on the edge of historic Lake Rotorua.

We offer four large en suited guest rooms – three with super-king beds and one room with two Queen beds.

Each guest room is beautifully appointed with luxurious linens and furnishings and stunning examples of both contemporary and traditional Maori art work. Views pour in the windows of each room – including the stunning and historic Lake Rotorua, Ohinemutu Village, Rotorua Township and Mt Tarawera.

All rooms have LCD televisions and there is a media room with Sky television access. Wi-Fi is available free of charge.
The kitchen and living areas are spacious and designed with entertaining family top of mind. There are three outdoor living areas and kayaks, a windsurfer, a Paddle Board, table tennis table, a dinghy, four mountain bikes ( 2 child and 2 adult) and spa pool are at your disposal.

We have a large private jetty stretching out in to Lake Rotorua, so there are plenty of opportunities for water activity (be collected by floatplane from the end of our the jetty for a scenic flight), waterskiing, fishing, swimming, sailing all from our little secluded bay.

We have a diverse town and the rich, deep Maori culture is proudly shared with guests to the region. Our family of four (my husband and two sons who are 9 and 11) and my sisters family of four (her husband, daughter 13 and son 11) are planning a month visit to Europe. From our very young country, our plan is to immerse our children in the ancientness, culture, history, art and people as best we can in a short time. We have chosen London, Rome, Paris and Spain (near water) as our itinerary allows and would love to swap homes with people in those places.

My sister owns a beautiful home is our biggest city, Auckland, in the leafy green village in central Auckland, known as Parnell. We would be happy to exchange either or both properties if appropriate.
