About our home

Pre-Georgian house (approx 1700) made fashionably Georgian in 1760s. Totally refurbished in 2008 for usual 21st century living standards. Overlooks the Park. Large (for London!) sheltered Garden to rear. Great local attractions (Meridian, Maritime Museum, O2), easy and quick links (train, DLR and river) to Central London.
Crooms Hill is a very illustrious and historical street, containing two Blue Plaques, the Fan Museum, Greenwich Theatre and many Listed Buildings. It is part of the World Heritage Site that includes Greenwich Park and also falls within the West Greenwich Conservation Area. Our house is a Grade 2 Listed Building and is praised in Pevsner's Architectural Guides. There are few finer examples of domestic architectural architecture to be found anywhere, as these buildings had to survive the Blitz and the 1960s fashion for tearing down old buildings! George Orwell stayed here regularly and in 1940 he wrote in his diary about a particularly intrusive mouse. Since we got the cat, the mouse has moved out....
We hope to find a swap for summer 2011, as we don't have any tickets for the Olympics....
