About our home

We live in a large Victorian country home, built in 1880 for Sir Philip Magnus, in nearly 40 acres of private parkland. Our 6 bedroom Mews House forms one wing of the original house.

Downstairs, there's a large kitchen with Aga, dining room that seats up to 8, a playroom, large living room. Pretty much every room in the house - including the loo - has stunning views of the forest and Surrey Hills.

We are on the edge of Blackheath Village, which is nestled in the Surrey Hills in the Blackheath conservation area. We're close to so many pretty villages and National Trust properties plus Wisley RHS gardens. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty, special scientific interest and with National Trust status.

Despite all this tranquility, we are only 10 minutes drive to Guildford, which is great for shopping, bars, theatre etc and London is really close too - just a 35 minute train journey from Guildford (we both commute there most days - it's very close!)

We have 2 acres of private garden and you can wander onto Blackheath itself - a beautiful heath and forest, which stretches for miles and leads to several stunning walks - including the Downs link and Newlands Corner.

We're a family of three - we have a 2 year old girl (and a baby on the way) - and we're looking for ideas for a long weekend or week away in Spring and Summer 2012 - ideally in the South of England but maybe in Europe. Also, a summer holiday near the coast would be lovely.
