About our home

We live in a large Victorian house in a leafy road on the edge of town just below the famous Cow and Calf rocks. The lovely spa town of Ilkley is a 20min walk or short drive away. Situated in a valley on the banks of the mighty River Wharfe, surrounded by stunning scenery, we think Ilkley is a very special place. Nestled as it is within miles of moorland - it is quite literally a town in the countryside - all within a short walk from the house. Further afield, the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales are a short drive away, as are Leeds and lovely Harrogate packed with an abundance of shops, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries.

We have lived in our beautiful period home for 2 years. Having spent the previous year renovating the house from top to bottom, we now feel that we have created the perfect home for our large family.

The house is spread over 3 floors. The top floor has 4 large children's bedrooms and a bathroom. The middle floor houses the main bedroom with an enormous luxurious en-suite bathroom, a laundry room and guest suite (this is separate and includes a large bedroom, a smaller room with bunkbeds and a bathroom). The ground floor encorporates a hansome sitting room with open fire, a large comfortable study with wifi, a playroom with 26" Plasma screen, playstation, wii etc. Our favourite space is our stunning New England style Plain English family kitchen/dining room with pitched roof and ceiling to floor windows leading onto a large balcony overlooking the back garden. There is also a cloakroom on the ground floor along with a boot room with side entrance to he house.

As well as a double garage, the basement houses a fabulous playroom/yoga studio with full-sized table tennis table. The house is always cosy whatever the weather having underfloor heating throughout. The house is perfectly set up for children with a large flat garden, goal nets and trampoline - with four lively children we opted for artificial lawn - this has proved a great decision as the kids play out all year round. (no mowing or mess!!)
