About our home

Our seventeenth century flint and brick country house was extended and modernised in 2009 and has since been featured in many well known Interiors magazines and books. Now it combines the very best of old and new, with 4,500 sq ft of living space featuring open fires, wood burning stoves, exposed beams, luxurious bathrooms, a vast french country kitchen and even a nine seater HD cinema hidden behind a bookshelf door. Outside is an acre and a half of gardens, with activities for kids (a trampoline, table tennis, swings and a climbing frame) and lots of beautiful plants and views for adults (and a well stocked vegetable garden). The house is in a tiny hamlet on the side of a river valley - the famous South Downs Way (an 80 mile walking route) runs right past the gate. But we are also ideally positioned for town and city life. A five minute drive brings you to Lewes - a bustling market town with a 10th century castle and some of the best boutique shopping and eating in the South of England. A fifteen minute drive and you are in Brighton - famous around the world for it's beaches, nightlife, shopping and bohemian atmosphere. If it's the big city you're after, London is an hour by train, with frequent and reliable services nearby.

Buzzy restaurants
Pelham House for posh or Bill's in Lewes - a unique combination of grocery store and fantastic restaurant
Cool bars
The North Laine in Brighton is full of them
Cozy cafés
Cozy pub close by. Great cafe's in Lewes and Brighton
Retail therapy
Wickle or Flint in Lewes for clothes and interiors, The Lanes In Brighton and big stores in London.
Bit of culture
We are ten minutes from the famous Glyndebourne Opera House. Or visit the Royal Pavillion and Dome Theatre in Brighton. Or a West End Show after a day's shopping in London
Walks in the park
We live in a National Park so walks aren't a problem!
Spot of exercise
Hiking, Mountain biking, sailing, horse riding, swimming in the sea
Day tripping
London an hour by train. We are also a five minute drive from a ferry to Dieppe in France, so French day trips very possible!
