About our home

Our village, South Hinksey, dates back to 688AD and is recorded in the Doomsday book. The village has lots of Cotswold stone cottages and some thatched houses. There is a village church with a 13th century nave and a golf course designed in an inland links style.

Our house is a Cotswold stone and wood clad cottage with a small (20ft long) private pool that is at the same time within walking distance of Oxford city centre (30 minute walk or a short drive). We also have a babyfoot table, a Bechstein piano, an inflatable kayak to take on the Thames and the free streaming of hundreds of films through LoveFilm onto our large flatscreen TV. An organic vegetable box can be delivered weekly and a professional cleaner will clean before you arrive.

It is ideal for a family as we have two under 5s, so a highchair, pushchair, cots, car with child seats etc. can all be provided. The house is not in the smartest of decor at the moment and the bathrooms are functional rather than stylish as we have only recently bought the house; however, we plan to improve this significantly over the next few months.

There is lots to do and see. You can visit the University of Oxford, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds, go punting or for a walk on the Thames, dine at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, go to the Henley Regatta, see the UK's oldest museum (the Ashmolean), visit Sir Christopher Wren's Sheldonian Theatre, go discount luxury shopping at Bicester Village, or see London (1hr by train).
