About our home

Our spacious character home is located down a private leafy lane in a traditional English village, yet only 40 mins from central London - via Charing Cross, Waterloo and London Bridge stations.

We are surrounded by stately homes such as Penshurst Place, Hever Castle, Knowle Park, Sissinghurst Gardens, Bodiam Castle and Groombridge Place (location for the film Pride & Prejudice) but just ten minutes from the lively, historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

One of the UK's trendiest seaside towns, Brighton, is just an hour's drive away, while there are beautiful beaches, stunning sand dunes and a small fishing harbour at Camber and Rye. Plus there is a long off-road cycle track and a working steam railway less than ten minutes away.

So if you love walking, stunning countryside and historic sights, yet also enjoy good restaurants and shopping and want easy access to all the London sights, this would be a perfect base for your trip to the UK.

Buzzy restaurants: Too many to list: from Japanese noodle bars, Italian bistros and Indian curry houses to Haute Cuisine, fresh seafood and gastropubs. Plus many of the best restaurants in the world less than an hour away in London.
Cool bars: Everything from traditional English pubs and trendy wine bars, to nightclubs and live music venues.
Cozy cafés: Whether it's a cream tea or a capuccino, tea shops and coffee bars are everywhere.
Retail therapy: Tunbridge Wells has a large modern shopping centre as well as many independent boutiques at the historic end of the town. Bluewater, the UK's most prestigious shopping centre, is also just 30 minutes away by car.
Bit of culture: There are a number of independent theatres and a large multiplex cinema nearby. The West End of London and Brighton both have a huge choice of museums, art galleries, theatres, comedy, dance, film and music venues.
Walks in the park: Extensive walks throughout the local countryside on England's unique network of public footpaths. Trips back in time through visits to Penshurst Place, Hever Castle, Knowle Park, Sissinghurst Gardens, Bodiam Castle and Groombridge Place (location for the film Pride & Prejudice).
Spot of exercise: Off-road cycling, walking and rock-climbing all within ten minutes. Swimming, tennis and squash at local leisure complexes. Or just use our cross trainer, cycle machine or yoga and Zumba DVDs.
Day tripping: Stately homes, central London and Brighton are all recommended, while kids will love riding on the steam railway or the adventure gardens at Groombridge.
