About our home

Our apartment is on the 3rd floor of a very well maintained coop building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The building dates from the early 1900's and has a doorman and self-service elevators. The apartment is approx 1700 sq. ft. (170 sq. mt). We both enjoy cooking and our kitchen is well equipped for turning out gourmet meals. While the apartment has 2 bedrooms, we occupy it as if it were a very large 1 bedroom home. The 2nd bedroom is used as a den in addition to a small maid's room which is used as an office. There is a very comfortable pull out sofa that converts to a double bed but this arrangement might not be suitable for a family with small children or for 2 couples hoping to share somewhat equal accommodations.
We are a retired couple with grown children who travel quite a bit. The size and exact location of your home is not as important to us as a compatible sense of comfort and style. Our motivation for considering a home exchange has less to do with saving money and more to do with having a unique experience. Being able to settle into a new city and experiencing it as a local is very appealing to us. We can assure you that you will have that experience if you stay in our home.
