Happy Aquarius season! If you’re here, you’re most likely celebrating your birthday in January or February, and you’re looking for some home swap inspiration based on your sensitive and practical personality traits. Well, you’re in luck, as we’ve put together a little guide to the top four places that Aquarians will love…

Machu Picchu, Peru

Aquarians are blessed with countless amounts of energy, so to make them feel truly fulfilled in their adventures, they usually prefer a packed travel schedule. So where better to get some of your energy out, than by exploring the ancient wonders of Machu Picchu?!

As an air sign, Aquarians often have a strong desire to seek out places with spirituality and harmony at their centre. With a dose of astonishing history and some of the best natural beauty that South America has to offer, Machu Picchu is therefore the perfect spot for your next big adventure.

There are many ways to reach Machu Picchu, the most famous being the Inca Trail which passes by 500-year-old archaeological sites and exceptionally lovely scenery. This truly unforgettable experience offers the chance to embark on a four-day hike, which in total is around twenty-six miles! Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to complete the trek, but as the inclines are often steep, you do need a pretty good level of fitness. Costs and popularity depend on whether you’re travelling in the dry or wet season, but regardless of when you’re planning on visiting, we’d recommend booking significantly in advance as places are limited and the trek quickly gets booked up. Alternatively, if that sounds a little exhausting or you’re short on time and you’d rather just get to the ruins and back in a day, then you can do so by taking a train.

Berlin, Germany

With a deep intellectual and curious streak running through Aquarius, many Aquarians will actively hunt out vacations that will stimulate them intellectually. So we’d challenge you to find a location more ideal than Berlin! Having been through great historical changes, Berlin not only offers an interesting political past, but it also has a plethora of great galleries and museums to explore.

There are some parts of Berlin that simply should not be missed, such as the remains of the Berlin Wall. While much of the Wall has thankfully been dismantled, there are still key remnants which stand as a reminder of the post-war atmosphere in the city. Many people choose to visit the East Side Gallery which is home to 1.3km of the wall, much of which is decorated with iconic murals.

Next up, we think that Aquarians will enjoy seeing the Weltzeituhr Clock while wandering around the city. This clock displays times from various cities around the world – which is ideal for big-thinker Aquarians who like to imagine what life might be like on the other side of the world!

If you really feel like turning back the clock and picturing life from eons ago, you can dine at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, which is a 16th century restaurant that used to be frequented by the likes of Napoleon and Beethoven! Dive into the delicious local cuisine, and let centuries of history wash over you.

Lapland, Finland

Aquarians aren’t interested in small talk or the superficials in life – they want to be inspired by the bigger experiences, so how better to embrace that side of your personality than by witnessing a spectacular natural phenomena?! Step forward the Northern Lights – in particular when seen from Lapland, which is such a magical and enchanting place. In fact, Lapland will feel like a utopian paradise to Aquarians, as while it is a place of outstanding beauty, it is also home to some of Finland’s largest ski resorts and a hub of modern technology. Want proof of Finland’s technology credentials? Then look no further than the planned Levi Glacier which will offer skiing for as much of the year as possible thanks to a combination of snowmaking technology and snowfarming!

There are many things to see and do in Lapland, but one of our top suggestions would be to see the Northern Lights via a private tour, which will take you away from the light pollution and give you the best chance of spotting the aurora borealis. Another fascinating and amazing thing for spiritual Aquarians to see are the Amethyst Mines. You can either see these via a tour on a specialised winter vehicle or, for the more adventurous, a snowshoe hike! Lastly, if you are feeling really adventurous, then burn off some of your endless energy with a husky sledding experience. You will be spoilt for choice with the amount of places that offer this wonderful experience.

Cross country US road-trip

Last, but not least, a slightly different suggestion. As rather than staying in one place, we think rebellious Aquarians should embrace their progressive sides and hop in the car for an epic US road trip. Better yet, this will provide you with ample opportunity to stay at multiple different home swaps along the way, and as our members have simply loads of stunning properties that they’re keen to share with likeminded home-swappers, it’s fair to say that you’re in for one helluva journey!

There are so many wonderful options for a road trip across America, but knowing Aquarians’ love for the weird and wonderful, we’d recommend travelling through some of the southern states where you will be transported back in time.

Many Aquarians have a thirst for the unknown and magical, making New Orleans a perfect pit-stop. If you are interested in finding out more about voodooism and its relation to New Orleans, then we would recommend a trip to the Voodoo Museum, which has preserved the legacy of New Orleans’ voodoo history and culture since 1972. If you’re really into the spiritual world, then you should also add Cassadaga in Florida to your travel itinerary. Otherwise known as the psychic capital of the world’, this small town is home to some of the best spiritualists and psychics in the entire world, so get ready to find out what the future holds for you!
