On the morning of the 22nd of July, Love Home Swap CEO Debbie Woskow kicked off the 10th Collaborative Consumption Europe panel discussion with a focus on "Is the Collaborative Economy Still on Track to be the Next Big Trend?"
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made it to our latest (tenth) Collaborative Consumption Europe event last week. Another successful event that can be chalked up to the organizers of CCE and of course, all of you who came out in attendance.
With the brekkie sandwiches and coffee in abundance (thanks to our sponsors Osborne Clarke), conversation was flowing effortlessly. We met some very interesting folk like the San Francisco based TaskRabbit, and our new go-to going out app Explovia. The ladies from TaskRabbit had arrived recently to set up their first international office outside the USA, and the Managing Director from Explovia and our CMO had a nice chat about Explovia's impact on the Camden nightlife.
Half an hour later it was time to finish feeding our faces and getting caffeined up as we were ushered into the conference room with a "pinch-me-I'm-dreaming" panoramic view of St Paul's. Love Home Swap CEO Debbie Woskow kicked the event off by reminding us of the opening theme: Is the Collaborative Economy Still on Track to be the Next Big Trend?

DW: What models work in the sharing economy?
The panel discussed this topic at length and the key points made were that:
- We are now dealing with services in a "H2H - human-to-human" marketplace and "dismantling traditional ownership and rental concepts"
- The sharing economy "gives a massive range of options to consumers across a wide array of sectors - large and small"
- Lines are being blurred - consumers can become businesses overnight, driving a paradigm shift in long-established business models
DW: How do you scale collaborative businesses?
- "Focus on early adopters"
- "Be transparent and open about your business model - avoid any hidden costs or charges"
- "You have to be able to communicate and establish trust in your business model - and across your community"
Other questions asked during the panel discussion included: "Are there any collaborative models left to be developed?". Plus some more light hearted responses to: "If you could make one thing happen in the peer-to-peer economy this year, what would it be?"
