Sally swaps her home ‘Jungle Tide’ in Kandy, Sri Lanka which boasts 2.5 acres of gardens with a stream and stunning mountain views. We chatted to Sally about how Points swapping has been ‘vital to her survival’ during the Covid-19 pandemic, through being able to still visit her family back in the UK through home swapping.

Why did you start home swapping?

“My husband and I both love the exchange economy, and we feel home swapping is both “green” and socially good. We believe in trust and sharing and like to let others enjoy our unusual and lovely tropical home.”

Why is home swapping a great way to travel for you?

“I live in Sri Lanka, but I am English and my family live here. I have no house in the UK so swapping allows me to visit my family.”

How did the ability to Points swap through Love Home Swap help you to go away this year?

“By allowing me to come to the UK and travel around from Derbyshire to Devon, As Covid-19 restrictions have meant we are locked out of Sri Lanka for an indefinite period. Home swapping has been vital to our survival! Not everyone wants to travel to Asia and at present I mostly need to come to the UK – so Points swaps are invaluable.”

Sally said that she ‘regularly’ recommends Point swapping to other people instead of a more conventional holiday because it “saves money and lets you feel more at home”. In addition to this, Sally also explained how home swapping allows you to be able to “cook local ingredients, which you cannot in a hotel”!
