Seville, Spain
Named one of the top destinations for 2018, it’s easy to see why Seville still remains to be at the top of many traveller’s bucket lists. Full of exotic gardens, Moorish architecture and a lively food scene – it’s the perfect stop to enjoy a lazy long weekend and better yet - it’s incredibly reasonably priced. Pair the low cost of entertainment and food with a home swap and Seville could be a very affordable valentines weekend away.

Nice, France
The perfect balance between a city break and a beach holiday, Nice is a great vacation for anyone looking for variety. And if you’re feeling adventurous, it’s also just a short distance from the mountains for world-class hiking trails. As winter is technically off-season restaurants and other attractions tend to be cheaper as well as you get to enjoy the tranquillity without the summer crowds. For an even more relaxed trip, you could opt for a home swap which puts you in the heart of the neighbourhoods over the hotels.

Bali, Indonesia
Although you’ll need longer than a weekend away, Bali is a great destination for anyone looking for some winter sun and heat. One of the 17,000 islands that make up Indonesia, Bali is one of the most popular with tourist, especially couples. Along with the tropical climate, Bali is scattered with amazing scenery – from volcanic mountains, rice paddies, sandy beaches and coral reefs. Overall the island is an affordable destination, so you can use the money you’ve saved to enjoy luxury experiences like a massage on the beach or a day boat excursion to one of the many smaller islands off the coast.

Napa Valley, California
Gaining worldwide attention in 1976 and over 30 miles in length, Napa Valley is the ultimate weekend away for any wine lover. Located in northern California above San Francisco, the area is jam-packed with some of the country’s best restaurants servicing locally sourced food and wine, you can enjoy the local produce even if you’re not exactly a connoisseur. W recommend anyone who visits a wine tour, however, for those who aren’t the biggest wine fans – a visit to di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art makes a great trip, too.

Budapest, Hungary
Arguably one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Budapest is also a very affordable weekend break. The capital of Hungary, the city is famous for its large communal baths and Gothic architecture. We’d recommend a stroll around the city to spot the iconic landmarks, a stop off at The Széchenyi Thermal Baths and then with all the money you saved by doing a home swap, enjoy one the cities best restaurants.

Aspen, Colorado (USA)
Looking for something more active for a valentines break? An activity vacation is always a great option, and what could be better in February than a ski trip? Located in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Aspen is one of the best ski resorts in North America so you won’t be stuck for slopes to try. If skiing isn’t your thing, then you can still enjoy cuddling up indoors whilst taking in the breath-taking mountain views.

Reykjavik, Iceland
Although not technically celebrated in Iceland (instead opting for Husband day and Wife day), this stunning island still remains a great place to celebrate Valentines if you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous. It’s amazing how much you can see in a short space of time on this island – from the Golden Circle, the black sands (and maybe the Northern Lights if you’re lucky!).

Paris, France
A cliché, but for good reason - Paris still remains to be one of the world’s most romantic cities and would make a great Valentine’s vacation. Besides enjoying great wine and cheese, pay a visit to The Louvre (if you’re brave enough) or instead opt for smaller ones our favourites Musée de l'Orangerie and Musée Marmottan. Or if you want to enjoy the sites outdoors, a city walking tour visiting champs-élysées, Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, The Notre‑Dame de Paris, Jardin du Luxembourg, The Eiffel Tower and more is always a great way to take in the city – and best yet, it’s all free.
