About our home

Lovely ornate 1920 Californian bungalow fully restored and extended, with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms. Original Late Art Nouveau features have been preserved throughout. Period fireplaces and ornate plaster ceilings compliment dark polished jarrah floors. Two of the larger bedroom suites are self-contained with their own ensuite bathrooms, sitting and TV areas and courtyard access. Balinese-style pavillion in the back yard with BBQ and outdoor relaxing area, with sunken 8 person jacuzzi. Easy access to all transport, large yard and gardens. Studio at rear. Full air conditioning and central heating.

Lovely leafy neighbourhood in the heart of Adelaide's inner south, many cafes and restaurants within walking distance, and we are minutes to the city. Our home forms part of a protected heritage streetscape which preserves the original 1920's neighbourhood. Local facilities include multiple free tennis courts 100m from the house, Unley swimming and aquatic centre 200m, and nearby bowling, croquet and lawn tennis clubs. The heritage listed 1930's Capri theatre around the corner is a great retro experience.

Adelaide is a food and wine lovers paradise. Easy access to all the surrounding wine districts (10 mins to the Adelaide Hills, 40 mins to Maclaren Vale, and an hour or so to the Barossa and Clare Valleys.) and beautiful coastal areas all around. Wild and remote Kangaroo Island is 45 minutes away. You can even use all our camping gear.

Adelaide was ranked as the World's 5th most liveable city by The Economist magazine in 2013 and 2015, and was number 9 in Lonely Planet's top ten cities in the world 2014. It was the only Australian city to make the New York Times top 50 cities for 2015, at number 24, for its vibrant arts scene and natural beauty.

We are big fans of LHS and arranged all of our 3 month Europe trip for 2015 through this site. We are happy to consider points bookings as other people have done for us and are happy to consider swap requests for 2016 and beyond. We can also provide a car swap if you like, as we have for a number of previous visitors.
