A modern large family home located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Situated in a exquisitely planned new estate in a quiet cul-de-sac street, the location is a great mix of open space, but walking distance to nearby shopping hub, facilities, public transport, parks and nature trails.
The house itself was built in 2008 and includes 4 bedrooms (additionally a study also has a fold out double bed). The house features three separate living areas, the largest at the rear of the house is open plan with a large dining table (seats upto 12 people), large lounge area with wall-mounted flat screen TV, Apple TV and Bose Surround Home Theater sound system. This large room has views over the in-ground pool and Adelaide Hills. The large modern kitchen includes a dishwasher, chef's gas cooktop, two ovens, microwave, side-by-side stainless fridge with water and ice dispenser, large island stone-topped bench and large walk-in pantry with additional fridge and freezer.
The whole house has ducted, zoned reverse cycle heating and cooling. The master suite includes a king-sized bed with ensuite, including separate bath and shower. The other main bathroom also includes an additional separate bath and shower. The laundry includes both washer and dryer (we rarely use the dryer - the weather is usually great in Adelaide!). A monitored alarm system ensures everything is secure.
Situated high in the rolling hills, the backyard features a modern inground saltwater pool that overlooks the gumtrees of the valley below. Enjoy the Australian outdoors with an 8 person dining setting and use the 4 burner gas barbecue (grill) or wood and charcoal kettle bbq. Other family friendly features of the yard include a trampoline and swingset. The backyard features a range of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables (produce availability depending on the season!). Diverse birdlife (such as kookaburras, gallahs and rosellas) regularly visit the backyard and the nearby centuries old gumtrees.
Just 100 metres away at the end of the street is the start of the Craigburn Farm trails that offers a range signposted walking, hiking and mountain bike trails, that provide a nature escape and regular sightings of kangaroos and koalas. Men's, Women's and Child's Mountain bikes (29", 24" and 20") and 24" and 16" BMX bikes available with the house. With miles and miles of trails, the tracks range from relaxing walks around the lake and open grassland, through to challenging rocky downhill bike trails through the dense woodlands. Connecting trails through to Belair National Park, Sturt Gorge and the extensive network of Mitcham Council trails offer almost endless areas to explore. Golf clubs, basketballs and other sporting equipment are available for use.
We are open to car exchange. Additionally, affordable, safe and clean public transport (trains and buses directly, with links to the Glenelg tram) provide handy access across metropolitan Adelaide.
We are open to offers and exchanges throughout the second half of 2015. We are a family of 4 (2 school age children). We are looking to travel for up to 6 months and would consider simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchanges during this time.
4 minutes away from the house is the suburban shopping precinct of Blackwood, which includes cafes, restaurants, take-away food, supermarkets and other specialty shops. Other nearby features include Belair National Park and golf club, Wittunga Botanic Gardens, churches and community centres and numerous other parks and playgrounds.
15 minutes travel in each direction offers Adelaide's pristine beaches (such as Brighton or Glenelg), Shopping (such as Westfield Marion, the City of Adelaide, Rundle Mall, Adelaide Central Markets, Burnside), or the Adelaide Hills Wine and Food Region. Adelaide is Australia's premier food and wine destination with countless wineries and award winning restaurants, or if you are interested in cooking, Adelaide is home to premium food production such as seafood, fruit, vegetables, meat, bakery, microbreweries, jams etc. etc. The Adelaide Central Markets, or weekly farmers markets at the Adelaide Showgrounds, Adelaide Hills or McLaren Vale all are a great starting place to sample the local products.
The nearby train can drop you in to Adelaide at the doorstep of the recently upgraded Adelaide Oval, South Australia's iconic sporting home - with national and international Cricket in the Summer, or Australian Rules Football in the winter. Other sports in and around Adelaide include soccer, basketball, golf, surf life saving, motor racing, swimming, cycling and many, many more. Adelaide is also home to many festivals and cultural events throughout the year - such as the Fringe Festival, major sporting events and food and wine festivals. Numerous Cinemas and Theaters are also nearby.
The house is just 25 minutes away from the Adelaide Airport, Australia's most modern and fastest growing Airport with direct flights across Australia and Internationally. The house is located within a hour's drive from other South Australian icons such as the Barossa Valley, Murray River, McLaren Vale or the ferry to Kangaroo Island.
