Our home is located close to the ocean, tropical forest and mountains, it is a single level, bright open plan home with all mod cons, bathroom, large family room, large kitchen, lounge, 3 double bedrooms (1 with en suite) and a 4th bedroom that we use as a study but has a leather sofa bed just in case. The house has reverse air con (either hot or cold) but as we live in the semi tropics even in winter the temperature rarely drops below 20 during the day, it can feel chilly at night but a long sleeved sweater solves that.
We have a large covered patio area with a bbq and seating that overlooks the river Tweed which flows at the back of the property
The house is situated in a quiet cul de sac but we are only minutes from the main road network, Brisbane airport is 1 hour away and there is a local airport (10 mins away) for domestic flights .
We obviously have great views to the back of the property over the water and we are only 8 minutes from beaches in all directions, the beaches here are breathtaking with very few occupants, further up the coast we have Surfers Paradise for the people who like the busier type of holiday. Within 30 minutes there are Sea world, Movie World, Dream world, Wet n Wild, there are also bush walking trails, mountains to explore, Australia Zoo and eating out here is cheap but of a really good standard especially for seafood.
In fact we have something for everyone
Howard and I are both gave up our jobs in the UK to move to Australia, we are in our 50's and are really enjoying life down under, it is a fabulous place to live.
Howard was a Sales Director and I was an Account Manager for Universal Records and Marks and Spencers.
Howard plays golf, we love to go to the cinema, I do keep fit, volunteer at the local dog and cat pound, I am also secretary to the local Neighbourhood Watch, we have really filled our days.
We also love to walk but must admit to just walking on beaches and not inland.
We have a cat that we are hoping that our exchange family will look after, he just needs feeding and letting in at night, he is low maintenance but if this is a problem we can arrange alternative accommodation for him, if the exchange family wish to go away while they are in the house our neighbours will see to him, we brought him out from the UK and I do not think he has forgiven us yet.
Howard and I also attend the local clubs who provide all sorts of entertainment, from big name acts, local acts, dining, trivia, swimming, tennis, bowls - all close by.
The area is quite lush, all our visitors from the UK are surprised how green it is here and how pretty the countryside is.
