NOTE: these are not 'location' shots! The beach you are seeing is DIRECTLY across from the unit: cross the road and you're there :)! Walk along the many miles of shoreline, swim, sun-bake or rent a kayak or tinnie (small boats seen in pictures), right across the road! Remember, the weather is exceptional! Enjoy the calm waters of the passage or take a quick drive to Woorim and explore the glorious white, sandy surf beach that stretches for over 30 kilometres!
Our wonderful holiday apartment welcomes you to beautiful Bribie Island - the only Moreton Bay Island joined to the main land by bridge! This gives you access to the fantastic island lifestyle without the hassle of booking transport on or off an island.
Located on Pumicestone Passage Beach, Sylvan Beach Resort features an outdoor swimming pool, BBQ facilities, private, lock-up garage and visitor car parking. Our clean, spacious, first floor unit has 2 large bedrooms (each with a flat screen TV, built-ins, drawers and a couch!), a bathroom (with bath and shower) and a separate laundry area (complete with washing machine and dryer). The lounge room features a new, gloriously comfortable couch with multiple recliners and a day bed for you to relax on while you take in a movie on the brand new 55" ULED HDR Smart LED LCD TV. The kitchen, which overlooks the dining and lounge areas, is equipped with everything you'll need to make your own delicious holiday meals (or you can chose to eat at some of the many restaurants on the island. We recommend the wonderful Sandstone Point Hotel: about 3 minutes’ drive, directly across the bridge.) If you are eating in, don't limit your cooking to the kitchen! Get out onto the large, covered balcony, cook up a feast on the new, covered, gas BBQ and enjoy your meal overlooking the pool, taking in the sea breezes. There are toys available in the second bedroom and the resort has a small library of books available to swap.
From our unit, everything is at your fingertips! There's a bakery around the corner, 5 minutes’ walk away. There's a shopping centre (with Woolworths, Target and many smaller shops) less than 5 minutes’ drive away and a hotel, bottle shop, cafes and fish and chip shops all within 5 minutes’ walk. Up and down the foreshore you can rent kayaks, stand up paddle boards, tinnies and everything you can imagine for a wide variety of leisure activities, including fishing, sailing, and 4wd tours: you can build your own, perfect, island-getaway vacation!
About the area:
Bribie Island is part of South-East Queensland's "sun corridor" along with the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. If you enjoy subtropical weathers coupled with the urban convenience of a large, developed city less than an hours drive, then Bribie Island is an ideal destination.
Generally comfortable year-round, it attracts visitors from other regions in Australia during the colder months who are looking to escape the frigid chill down South. Combining the brilliance of hot, clear and sometimes humid Summers with mild and comfortable Winters, Bribie Island receives an average of 8 hours of sunshine each day throughout the year. With mostly year-round sunshine coupled with distinct seasons, there is usually a “season for everyone” in Bribie Island dependent entirely on personal tastes. It’s Mediterranean-style climate produces a comfortable balance of highs and lows.
Location, location, location!:
Bribie Island is one of the few, rare Australian islands that you don’t need a boat to reach. The Island has retained its small seaside village charm, while offering some of the most stunning scenery on the east coast of Queensland, Australia.
Towering white sand dunes, miles of unspoilt beach stretching as far as the eye can see, rolling surf, a protected tidal waterway teeming with marine life and views of the majestic Glass House Mountains in the distance are just some of the attributes that make Bribie Island worth experiencing as a local!
On Bribie Island, you can just as easily take a long walk along a vast, empty stretch of beach with only the swooping kites, seagulls and lapping tide to keep you company as you can rub shoulders with dozens of beachgoers in the family friendly Woorim surf beach. Woorim Beach is popular for its milder waves compared to surf beaches on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.
What else to do?:
Thrill seeking adventures are also not far away. Parachute onto the beach or hire a jet ski and check out parts of the Pumicestone Passage. Slightly less adrenalin pumping activities include line fishing or simply kicking back at Brennan Park watching the sun sink beneath the bridge over the gleaming waters of the Pumicestone Passage.
Bribie Island is only a 50 minute drive from Brisbane Airport and less than 30 minutes from Australia Zoo. It's a wonderful, central spot for you to explore everything the Greater South East Queensland region has to offer . . . or to stay local and soak up the natural beauty!
