Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Besides being a beautiful house we love this place because of its location. We are only 800m (5 mins walk) from friendly Black Rock village and beach with its many restaurants and coffee shops plus essential local baker, butcher and grocery stores. It gets more lively at weekends due to local beaches, coast walking path and Beach Road cyclists as well as quality eating.

And the centre of Melbourne is a 20 min drive or, even better, 20 mins by train from nearby Sandringham station. We prefer to use the train knowing we can take advantage of the theatre, galleries, history and restaurants of Melbourne - it is a cultural cosmopolitan city - and also have a relaxing drink.

Another bonus is that, if you are a golfer, we are walking distance to the Royal Melbourne and close to a number of other well known sandbelt golf courses

Note - the beaches here are safe bay beaches not surf beaches. The surf is an hour away. So this is not Australian surf beach holiday. The location however provides the best of both worlds - bayside beach location with easy access to the city.

Buzzy restaurants
Elichi is a great modern Indian, Clover Thai is tasty good value while Cerberus Beach House has great views (its sister restaurant Ventuno is a lively Italian)
Cool bars
True South bewery pub also does great food
Cozy cafés
Cafeteria and The Colonels Son are our favourites of many
Retail therapy
Plenty of local gift shops. For high end shopping go to Brighton, Southland or Melbourne city
Bit of culture
Head into Melbourne for galleries, museums , architecture. Or locally https://www.bayside.vic.gov.au/bayside-walks
Walks in the park
Plenty of walks along the Bay - https://www.bayside.vic.gov.au/coastal-trails
Spot of exercise
Besides the beach and all that offers you can walk along the Bay which is also a very popular, safe cycling area. For golfers there are a number of courses including The Royal Melbourne.
Day tripping
Close by is Mornington Peninsula for beaches, wineries and good cuisine. Further afield is the Great Ocean Road (West), Wilson's Promontory (East), and the Dandenong Ranges. A little further and in winter there is snow and the ski slopes.
