“wow, what an amazing experience. Where do I start... The hosts: David and Imy are delightful. They are so warm, friendly and welcoming. They couldnt do anymore to make us feel welcome and at home. They really are special people. The apartment: the perfect size, the perfect view, the perfect location... it was spotless. It had everything you could want and more. I'm completely in love with it and could live there full time. It really was a complete joy to come home to. The location: 10 mins to Bondi beach, a few mins to amazing walks and so close to great shops, restaurants and great transport connections. All in all, I hope this is a start to a great long term relationship as we'd love to return. David and Imy... thank you, thank you, thank you for everything. You are true pro's at this! ”

About our home
Our small 2 bedroom Bondi apartment is a short 10 minute walk downhill to either Bondi Beach or Tamarama beach. Our balcony has expansive ocean and district views facing south – a perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or an evening drink.
Our apartment is ideally suited for a couple. However, it might also be suitable for up to two couples, or one couple with another adult or with one teenage child. The apartment includes a:
* modern fully equipped kitchen (with oven, cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher);
* small internal laundry (with washing machine and clothes dryer);
* large open plan dining and living area (with access to the balcony via large glass doors);
* large main bedroom (with queen bed and small ensuite);
* small second bedroom (with a sofa that converts to a comfortable queen bed); and a
* main bathroom (with separate bath and shower).
Our apartment is in a small block of seven apartments and is located on the third floor. There is no lift in the building. Unfortunately, as our apartment with open balcony is on the third floor, it is not suitable for small children (or pets) or for people who would find the three flights of stairs difficult. The building is a non-smoking building – smoking is not permitted in the apartments, on the apartment balconies, or in the building common areas.
Bondi Beach (to the north) and Tamarama beach (to the south) are an easy 10 minute walk downhill – be prepared to take a little longer to walk back home up the hill. The safe swimming areas at Bondi Beach are another 10 minute walk along the beach – it is always best to swim at the patrolled areas between the red and yellow flags.
Bondi Beach provides access to magnificent coastal walks. The coastal path south continues for about 6kms to Coogee. The coastal path north continues for about 5km to Watsons Bay at the south head of Sydney Harbour. In fact, you can follow the marked coastal paths from Bondi all the way around the harbour to Manly – a total of about 80kms, which can easily be done as multiple small walks.
Our apartment is only a few hundred metres from Bondi Road which has multiple cafe and restaurant options offering good quality casual dining. Of course there are many more dining options at Bondi Beach – many with beach and ocean views.
Bondi has easy public transport access to the city and all its attractions. The main bus stop is 350 metres from the apartment – the main 333 public bus runs every 5 to 10 minutes throughout the day and evening and takes about 45 minutes to the final stop at Sydney’s Circular Quay (for the opera house and harbour ferries). Alternatively, the Sydney train network can be accessed from Bondi Junction (less than a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride). If you do decide to hire a car, our apartment has its own lock up garage. Please note that the garage is more suitable for a small car – on street parking in the area is limited.
Our planned European holiday in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic. We are now planning an extended European holiday in the northern hemisphere summer of 2023. We are particularly interested in visiting the UK and Ireland but may consider other destinations in western Europe. We are interested in a non simultaneous classic swap and we are open to the possibility of making our Bondi apartment available anytime expect when marked as unavailable in the calendar. We are also open to the option of a points swap for our Bondi apartment.

David's reviews
As a host (4)“We had a wonderful stay at David and Imy’s home. It was everything as described and more! We loved the view from the balcony over the sea and the closeness to beaches, restaurants and shops. A great house swap. We look forward to welcoming David and Imy to our home in Schull.”
“David was extremely helpful. He met us before the swap and explained everything about the flat. The information book meticulously covered everything, leaving us free to enjoy the flat, Bondi and Tamarara. The flat is in a quiet residential area, and has an superb view across Tamarara , Bronte to Clovelly. It's 3rd floor with no lift, but the stairs are no problem. The flat is uncluttered and simple to look after. Thank you very much David and Imy.”
“A haven of peace and tranquility Spending time with our two little granddaughters in Sydney recently was a highlight of our lives ... and, thanks to David and Imy’s lovely apartment at Bondi Beach, we had a peaceful, tranquil haven to retreat to at the end of each busy day. I’ve been a member of Love Home Swap for over 10 years and it’s always been my first port of call when looking for places to stay. We’ve been privileged to stay in wonderful private homes all around the world from Santorini to the French Alps, from Paris to Wanaka. I knew the cost of a hotel or holiday rental for an extended period over summer in Sydney would be prohibitive so I searched the Love Home Swap website, sent out a few messages and within hours, I had a positive response from David and Imy. We arranged a points swap and soon after, we were winging our way to Sydney. Their home was perfect for our needs. Conveniently located between our two Sydney-based daughters’ houses, commuting from one to the other was easy for us, both by car and on foot. Our daily schedule involved helping with a newborn, looking after a toddler, doing the grocery shopping, cooking and laundry and running other errands. We loved every minute of it and our support was hugely appreciated, but it was a blessing to have our own space to relax in the evening, put our feet up, watch the stunning sunset from the balcony and have a quiet glass of wine. Our daughters and sons in-law, who live in small apartments, welcomed the privacy and time to themselves too. David and Imy’s two-bedroom, two-bathroom home was a joy to stay in. The compact open-plan apartment is absolutely immaculate, meticulously well-organised and well-equipped with high-quality appliances and everything we needed. The kitchen has a Miele induction cooktop, a Westinghouse oven and microwave, Bosch dishwasher and a great array of utensils and cooking equipment including a large slow cooker which Chris put to great use making meals for our three households. The laundry has a Miele washing machine and an Electrolux clothes dryer, large tub, iron, ironing board and fold-out drying rack. Sturdy European-style sliding doors open onto a long balcony which overlooks the spectacular rugged coastline between Bondi to Bronte beach. We ate dinner at a table on the balcony on the warm summer evenings. The famous Bondi to Coogee coastal walkway is only a few minutes’ away. It’s an absolute must. The dark polished timber floor is a striking feature of the home along with a beautiful Red River gum dining table. A triptych of photos on the wall depicts the trees from which the table was made. The two bedrooms have very comfortable beds made up with high-quality linen sheets and pillowcases. The larger of the bedrooms has a sofa which converts into a queen-sized bed. In the evenings, I made good use of the space sewing clothes for our granddaughters with a machine lent to me by my Australian co-granny. Meanwhile, Chris watched the tennis and America’s Cup yacht racing on the large flatscreen TV in the lounge area. There’s ample space for hanging clothes in wardrobes and unpacking into drawers which made us feel at home. With large windows, sliding doors and ceiling fans, there’s excellent ventilation without the need for air conditioning. A library in the master bedroom contains some great cookbooks which Chris perused to create tasty dishes for all of us. The two bathrooms, one an ensuite, are fully tiled, the main bathroom featuring a floor made from smooth river stones. A secure covered carpark under the apartment building is a boon as parking can be a major problem around Bondi. The apartment is located on the top floor of a three-storey building in a great neighbourhood with trendy cafes, fruit shops, restaurants and an excellent seafood shop nearby. We met our delightful hosts, David and Imy, before they headed off on a road trip in New South Wales. David is an IT expert so the technology and wifi worked very well and he had prepared an impressive 40-page guide to the apartment covering everything from security and access to neighbourhood shopping, dining and recreation. It’s the most comprehensive compendium I’ve ever come across. They left us some superb local wines to sample which was a lovely touch. In the current COVID-19 environment, travel between New Zealand and Australia requires a mandatory two-week period with regular testing in an official managed isolation hotel on entering New Zealand. This costs $4300 per couple. However, New Zealanders can enter Australia without a mandatory managed isolation period. Justine and Chris”

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Bondi is located between Bondi Junction (the main shopping district and transport hub) and the world-famous Bondi Beach. The Sydney CBD and Circular Quay are about 7kms from Bondi and are easily accessed by public transport. Circular Quay provides access to the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, the historic Rocks precinct, and the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Circular Quay is also a ferry hub for Sydney Harbour – a ferry trip to Manly or the Taronga Zoo is one of the best ways to view the magnificent harbour. A ferry trip up the Parramatta River to Parramatta is another great way to view the Sydney waterways. Darling Harbour is nearby to the Sydney CBD and is an entertainment centre with numerous waterside bars and restaurants.
