Our home is a beautiful 3 bedroom pole home situated on approx 4 acres of rural residential land at Mt Mee. The elevation is 430m and there is abundant wildlife in the area particularly parrots and black faced wallabies. The house features extensive use of wood with polished hardwood floors in all except the bedrooms which are carpeted and the toilets, bathrooms and laundry which are tiled. The house is divided into two levels with the lower level consisting of a great room, study, rumpus and master bedroom/en-suite. The upper level contains the kitchen, main bathroom, and two smaller bedrooms. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and a king single and a double in each of the other bedrooms. The bedrooms are air conditioned. There is an Internet connection in the study and two large TV's in the great room and rumpus. The top level opens onto a very large wrap around covered deck which provides views to the Glasshouse Mountains and the Sunshine Coast. At the front of the house there is a smaller deck looking out to the forest surrounding the property. The master bedroom also has a small deck which looks over to the property dam. The dam is home to a population of silver perch (pets) and wild ducks. For the children we have a 12 foot safety netted trampoline, a fort with slide swing, climbing wall etc., and an 80 foot zipline.
The suburb we live in is called Ocean View and it is a purely residential area divided into mostly 5 and 40 acre blocks. The mountain lays claim to a small winery, a licensed restaurant with spectacular views, and a National Park with various trails to explore. The nearest town called Dayboro is at the bottom of the mountain (a fifteen minute drive) and it has a range of facilities including a small supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, hotel (pub), garage, and a 25m public swimming pool. The next closest town is Samford Village which is much larger and has a reputation as slightly alternative. Admittedly we need to hop into the car to get to most places but it's only approximately an hour to Brisbane city and a bit more to the Sunshine Coast with its beautiful beaches and hinterland and the world renowned Noosa beach and national park. If you want to head south the Gold Coast is about 1 1/2 hours away. The famous Woodford Folk Festival is held over the week between Christmas and New Year and is only about a half hour country drive from where we are.
We are mum, dad, a boy 11 and a girl 7.
I am retired and my wife works part time as a clerical assistant.
We love nature and peace and quiet which defines where we live. The fact that we are atop a mountain adds extra dimension.
