Our house is ideally situated in a forested setting close to beaches on the Sunshine Coast. It is a three bedroom home on a fenced 1000 square metre block of land.
There is a large, well designed kitchen with modern appliances. Adjacent is the separate dining room which leads through French doors on to the terrace shaded by a mango tree. The lounge has a comfortable leather sofa and lounge chairs, a television with DVD and CD player. There is an extensive library of books and magazines focussing on travel. This leads to an outdoor deck which overlooks the pool (10m x 5m) and tropical gardens. It has a dining suite for 8 and a day bed as well as a small bar and is an ideal spot for entertaining and relaxing.
The main bedroom and adjoining modern ensuite overlooks tropical palms and the forest. There are two other double bedrooms and a separate bathroom. A study has broadband (wireless) internet access, printer, scanner and phone. Downstairs there is a laundry, multipurpose area and storeroom. There is a double garage with a car and two bikes available. Lawns, pathways and tropical gardens complete the home.
We are in an excellent location with quiet and friendly neighbours. Our house is 200m away from the picturesque Headland Golf Course with its abundant birdlife and kangaroos. Adjoining the property but separated by a 10m stand of trees, is a community centre with a 25m pool, squash courts, coffee shop, gym and fitness centre. A 5 minute walk will bring you to a community shopping complex with supermarket, café, newsagent, butcher, baker and other shops. We are centrally located to explore many of the features of one of Australia’s premier holiday destinations, the Sunshine Coast with some of the best surf beaches on the East coast. We are five minutes drive from the beach resorts of Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Kawana. We are also five minutes drive from the leafy village of Buderim with its scenic views of the Sunshine Coast. Noosa with its national park, beaches and fine dining is just over twenty minutes away as is Eumundi with its popular produce markets. The nearby hinterland offers opportunity to explore some interesting towns and villages such as Maleney and Montville offering Art galleries, organic produce such as strawberries, macadamia nuts, avacados, and a huge range of farming products. It is ideal for picnics and hiking around waterfalls and lakes.
We are also in close proximity to Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, Underwater World and the world heritage listed national park – Fraser Island. Brisbane city is less than an hour away with its international airport. The local Maroochydore airport has flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns.
We are John and Debra, in our mid fifties and both teachers. We have two wonderful daughters - one of whom has just become a first time mother to a beautiful baby girl and the other is currently living in London. 2008 will be an interesting year for all of us. We back-packed with our daughters for 6 months in 1992 when they were just 7 and 11 and it was incredible to share such valuable and wonderful experiences and time together. We have taught in London twice and followed that up travelling in Europe and are keen to continue our explorations.
