My home is of modern open space design with all the features for comfortable living. The kitchen, lounge, dining and family rooms overlook the patio and swimming pool area.
With the luxury of year round warm tropical weather most relaxing/entertaining takes place outdoors. An outdoor lounge, dining setting, BBQ, and sun lounges, all adjacent to the pool, provide a resort like setting for those days when you need a break from sightseeing.
I have 3 queensize beds (main with ensuite), and all bedrooms are airconditioned (rarely needed) with ceiling fans throughout the house.
All the furniture and appliances were recently purchased and are of excellent quality. Both the lounge and family rooms have large flat screen tvs. Wireless broadband is connected.
Situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, I love living here and feel sure you will enjoy your stay.
I also would prefer a car swap - I own a Ford Focus hatchback in excellent condition.
I live in a quiet beachside suburb of Cairns with an excellent bus service to neighbouring beaches and Cairns central. There are 2 major shopping centres within 5K and a small local centre (2 min walk) with mini supermarket, bottle shop, 2 takeaway food, hairdresser, pharmacy and doctors surgery.
Walk to local clubs for a meal or a drink. Many of the hotels/clubs provide a free courtesy bus to and from your front door -safely enjoy a wine or two with your meal whilst overlooking the Coral sea!
Paradise Palms Golf Club is 1 kilometre away; the Half Moon Bay golf club is an 8 kilometre drive. We are within walking distance of a bowls club, Aussie Rules football club, pony club and various sporting grounds. Every evening at dusk a 5 minute walk will take you to a paddock full of grazing kangaroos.
The attractions around Cairns are numerous and varied the most well known being The Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest, both World Heritage listed.
Take the magnificent 50k coastal drive to Port Douglas, see famous Four Mile Beach, have breakfast with the birds at The Rainforest Habitat park (crocodiles, kangaroos, emus, koalas etc) and enjoy the ambience of this marvellous seaside village. Further north are Mossman Gorge, the Daintree River and Cape Tribulation.
Take the Skyrail up to the market village of Kuranda and return on the historic Kuranda train.
A drive up to the Atherton Tablelands is a must - rainforests, lakes, waterfalls and spectacular views over Cairns and the beaches.
Visit Paranella Park, Hartleys Creek Crocodile Farm, Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, Cairns Tropical Zoo.
Cairns central has a Casino markets swimming lagoon Art gallery shops/restaurants etc
Overnight trips to Cooktown, Mission Beach or cave tours in the old mining town Chillagoe.
Fishing, diving, snorkelling, swimming or just relaxing by the pool soaking up the tropical sun.
Cairns airport has direct flights to Ayres Rock, all major cities, New Zealand Asia/the world!
I am recently retired and love travelling both in Australia and overseas.
I find that the people you meet whilst travelling provide the best memories of any trip and for this reason I feel that house swapping is an ideal way to have a base and meet the locals.
I have enjoyed house and car swaps in New Zealand, Croatia, Spain and Australia.I am open to swaps in any location but would prefer a long lead in time to get to know each other and to fine tune swap details
I enjoy reading, music, golf, lawn bowls, local pubs and dining out.
