About our home

We live 2km back from the beach. On the beautiful Sunshine Coast, which is not as busy as the GoldCoast. The house has all the modern touches- a basic expresso coffee maker, water filter, breadmaker etc. The benches are a dark granite and the floors are tiled with carpet in the bedrooms and Lounge. On the odd week of the year it does get too hot there is an airconditioner in the dining room as well as the main bedroom and the 2nd bedroom as well as the office downstairs. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans. The house faces North so we are always nice and cool with plenty of windows. We still feel like we are on holiday here even after 8 yrs of living here. Main bedroom has ensuite - queen bed with wiews out to the ocean, we also indulge in that terrible habit of watching tv in bed so there is a small tv in the main room. Gemma's room - single bed, Kristy's has a queen. The main bathroom has a large spa bath and shower, which is great if it does get very hot in summer. There's a very large deck out the front of the house with bbq and table setting. It catches all the great views of sunset and Mt Coolum in the distance as well as the ocean. The back yard is small and has an inground pool which is a comfortable size to enjoy, the back tiled area is always cool in the late afternoon in summer. There is enough grass to laze about on in the sun. The house is now 10 yrs old however it is still modern looking. Our home is very clean and comfortable.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4 John and Paula are both 42 for a little while longer!! We have two girls Kristy 22 and Gemma 4 yes that is right! Had to have a career in between!! We have two dogs, who we can take to Johns Parents if need be. John is a keen windsurfer and this first house exchange is for him to do some serious windsurfing so our main priority is to do the exchange when the wind is at it's best! We all enjoy the whole beach lifestyle. Walking playing snorkelling. Although curling up with a good book is such a dream!! Gemma will be joining us and she is very wellbehaved, her mum drops more things in the kitchen than she does. She swims like a fish, and loves to snorkell, and is getting better on her bike, with training wheels still. Kristy and her boyfriend may join us but who knows what she will be doing at the time, or depending on my mums health she may also join us for maybe a week.

Where is it?

A quiet culdesac with wonderful friendly neighbours who would love to meet you and help in any way they can. We live on a hill and have a steep driveway, which thankfully I don't have to walk up very often as we drive staight into the garage. The hinterland of the sunshine coast is getting very famous as well, with lovely restaurants and wineries, it encompasses Mapleton Maleny and Montville, it almost has a european feel to it. 35 min North is the famous Eumundi Markets. The great Barrier Reef is close by. In our opinion the best way to see the reef is to stay on it ! we recomend only two places the best being Lady Elliot Island which is a coral cay it is a 2 1/2 drive north to Hervey Bay and a 30 minutes scenic flight to the island from there. You will see everything -turtles Manta rays sharks hard coral, of course colourful fish too ! May be a good trip to do before or after the exchange, the other is Heron Island further north a 5 hr drive and a 2 1/2 boat trip, similar reef but a bit more of an upmarket resort. We are 20 Min to Aust Zoo. We are close to many surfing beaches and can leave all relevant information for you. Shopping centre for food is 10 min walk away and for pleasure Sunshine Plaza is 20 minutes by car or1hour by bus. Mooloolaba has great outdoor eating restaurants and beaches and also underwater world, the Hmas Brisbane is sunk off Mooloolaba for the keen divers! In caloundra you can also go kite/windsurfing, and 15min to Greg Norman golf course.
