Carrington has village like feel to it and it is in an historic inner suburb in one of the earliest settlements in Australia; it is in part of a working port. Carrington is experiencing change from its stevedoring housing origins, while retaining many of its charming terraces and houses. Newcastle Regional Airport (Williamtown) has regular jet aircraft services to many cities in the eastern states and the nation's capital (Canberra), and is a 20 minute or 24 kms car trip away from our villa.
Our 2 storey modern villa has a dishwasher and all modern conveniences and is located in a village community alongside a waterway. All 3 bedrooms are upstairs. Main bedroom (queen bed) has its own ensuite. 2nd bedroom has a sofa which converts to a queen sized bed. 3rd bedroom has shared use as a study with a foldout single bed. In addition to the main upstairs bathroom there is a 3rd toilet off the downstairs laundry. Downstairs is the lounge and dining areas with a compact modern kitchen, adjoining laundry and a single vehicle garage (used as a wine cellar and storage facility (golf clubs, lawn mower, tools...). At the rear of the villa there is a leafy paved courtyard with BBQ and outdoor dining setting which is great in summer and in the winter sunshine. The front and side of the villa are turfed with a front feature garden. On site (1 space) vehicle parking plus additional parking nearby.
If you like swimming, surfing, walking and cycling (2 bikes included) our place in ideally located. Most local major beaches are patrolled / protected by lifesavers (lifeguards) and all have white sand and good surfing available. Bush walking, beach walking and walking to restaurants are activities you can enjoy. Newcastle (the city) has 3 major nearby dining precincts one of which is located across the harbour from our villa. Whale watching (during 2 seasons each year) and dolphin (all year round) tours are available from Newcastle and 45 minutes away at Port Stephens.
The nearby Hunter Valley wine region is known for its wines around the world and has many fine dining restaurants and is less than an hour's drive away. The adjoining city of Lake Macquarie offers all the attractions of a major saltwater lake including sailing, water sports such as water skiing and fishing plus dining to mentions some activities.
Sydney (the major city of Australia and the capital of our state) is only 160 kms or 2 hour away by car - note you can walk to a nearby train station and travel by an intercity service to and from Sydney.
As we have 2 cars, we are interested in including 1 car in a car swap arrangement.
