About our home

Our home is very large with many bedrooms, studies and personal spaces including a balcony and an art studio. Our home includes both formal and informal lounge and dining spaces, a billiard table, a library, 2 studies with computers and high speed internet. With Australia's warm climate, the outdoor entertaining area, including a BBQ and swimming pool, make our home ideal for entertaining or for resort style living for those who desire some time to relax in quiet and pleasant surroundings. The upper level parent's retreat has a balcony (with hammock) and a private spa bath. Visitors will find themselves in a quiet, low density, well respected area of Brisbane yet only 10 km from the city centre. All towns, cities and places of interest in Australia are laid out to take advantage of the vast amounts of space and land generally available. Therefore a car is generally recommended to facilitate the best use of available time particularly when visiting the many regional tourist attractions. We are happy to discuss the option of use of one of our cars to help you enjoy your time in our home, our city and our region. My wife, Terry, is an artist and is looking for an opportunity to study/work in an Arts environment for approx 3-6 months prefably city centre in USA or Europe in 2010. A full 3-6 month is not mandatory.

More about us

  1. I, Paul (52 years old), am an IT consultant who has worked mainly with large Australian mining and energy companies (incuding 2 years when we lived in Argentina). My wife Terry (50 years old) is an exhibiting artist who works from a large home studio. Terry and I will spent sometime in July in Chicago. Terry also hopes to possibly exhibit in North America in 2010. We look forward to enjoying alternate cultures and especially a cold Christmas with some possibility of snow? Xmas in Australia is summer and beaches. We both love travelling, exercise and music. For us travelling is more about experiencing and comparing other cultures rather than visiting modern tourist attractions and resort hotels.

Where is it?

Our home is in a quiet, leafy, well respected residential suburb. Our suburb backs onto an expansive area of protected forest land, very popular within our area for those early morning or late evening walks. Native Australian bird life is abundant. The centre of Brisbane is just 10 kms away. Buses are the best means of public transport access (500 metre walk to bus stop and approx 30 minutes bus ride to city). Brisbane provides all of the facilities of a modern city and is surrounded by a number of renowned Australian tourist attractions. The Gold Coast and beaches 1 hour (80km) south. Gold Coast theme parks (70-80 km south). Gold Coast hinterland and rain forests (Binna Burra National Park) 30 km inland from the Gold Coast. The Sunshine Coast and beaches (including Noosa) 1.5 hours (100 km North). The Sunshine Coast hinterland and national parks (arts and crafts of Maleny and Montville) just 30 km inland from the Sunshine coast. Brisbane's Moreton Bay with Moreton Island (Tangalooma resort - 1.5 hours boat ride) and Stradbroke island (car ferry access) only 1 or 2 hours away. The largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island, with resorts, beaches and 4WD national park expeditions is only 4 hours drive north of Brisbane. For the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsunday Islands, and Cairns then air travel is recommended (approx 1.5 - 2 hours). Sydney, another of Australia's popular tourist destinations, is just 1 hour away by plane.
